Canon Maxify MB5450 for making t-shirts

Hello,

At this moment I am looking for a printer that prints (using pigment ink in all color) on printable HTV (like 3g jet opaque).

I saw that this printer is using pigment ink:

PGI-2500XL BK
PGI-2500XL C
PGI-2500XL M
PGI-2500XL Y

My question is, is this suitable (and it`s ink durable) for t-shirt printing (I would use the 3g jet opaque)? "PGI" is pure pigment?

And a stupid question: "Which is the exact meaning of 'pigment based'? Because I saw that some Epson (and others) printers are 'pigment based', but only the black is pigment and the others colors are dye." I mean, it`s not pure pigment.

Canon Maxify range of printers use solely pigment ink. I don't know about Epson and others but all Canon cartridges starting with 'PGI' contain pigment ink, 'pure pigment' as you say.
Is this ink, combined with printable HTV, suitable for making t-shirts ?. Sorry, I have no idea..

Some transfer sheets are used with dye inks.

Those who make the transfer papers (3g jet opaque) said that their papers works with dye and pigment. People out there says that pigments holds better than dye.

I'm not aware of pigment based sublimation inks, the sublimination inks are dye inks specifically tuned for the sublimation process. It may work with other inks but you may get inferior results - e.g. faster fading of the prints, and the use of the proper texile fabric - 50% polyester content - is as well very important for the sublim process.

I think we don't speak about the same thing. My question is related to printable htv (using pigments), not about subli/subli paper.

Yes and no. It depends how you wash it and if you are using dye ink or pigments. But, in the and, both will fade anyway.
