canon ip8500 problem

Please can someone help???????
When I plug this printer into power the light next to the power button glows a constant yellow/orange colour. The printer won't turn on or off unless you disconnect from the power.
No sounds eminate from the printer, so no head movement etc.
I would like to get this printer connected to windows 8.1 64 bit too.

The constant yellow/orange light means that the RAM on the logic board has failed. I think a new logic board is nowhere to be found so the printer is most likely a total loss.

The parts number for the logic board is QM2-1616 if you want to search for one. The parts catalog for the printer is found here.

How about a complete power down for two or three minutes, disconnecting the main power cord and try again to cause a reboot - me thinking it could be a glitch due to some spike on the mains.

Cost now't to try.... just a thought.

I had a IP4950 that printed broad zag zag patterns, the cure was removing the power lead for a minute or two - one side of the zig zags sides was filled in pink, it's something I've never seen before.... there was no alarm lights though.
