Any clues why my ip3000 suddenly won't print it's usual rich blue?
Instead it is washed out nearly a pale purple.
And all my photo printing turned washed out from prior bright bold photos.

My Cyan ran out in the middle of printing 10 pages of photo prints.
Possibly foolishly, I replaced the Canon ink this time with Staples photo cyan and the problem began.

After trying regular and deep cleaning and printing about 10 test pages, I put back in a new Canon Cyan ink.

Still, after 20 test pages and everything I can think of, the blue still comes out pale and I know my photo prints will be washed out. Black and red come out just fine.

The photo colors for cyan and magenta are much lighter and are not interchangeable with the regular ones, but I don't know why it has not yet corrected. Does a nozzle check indicate any problem?

Thank you for quick reply. It did not occur to me that the photo colors are lighter.
There was no indication of clogged jets.
I am at work now and am not sure whether I put in Canon brand "regular" or photo.
Will check at home tonight and reply. Thanks again.

ghwellsjr is spot on.
iP3000 DOES NOT use any photo inks.
Those are auxiallary inks for upper-end machines such as iP8500.

iP3000 will do photos, but just uses standard C,M,Y dye-based ink to do it.
Photo black is achieved with a mixture of your CMY.
For text it uses a pigment-based black ink.

to ghwells jr and to jflan

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Back to the non-photo inks and printing my photos again successfully...
The photo inks "sounded" better and there was no warning any place in the packaging about the difference.
My ip3000 is back to normal. Thanks again.
