On powering up my i950, I now get the orange light flashing seven times. According to the manual I should contact a Canon service representative which so far I have not. I have made no changes recently.
I am unable to get any further that the flashing stage and am stuck. What exactly is going with this process and is their any way to remedy what ever the problem is?

Your error is a problem with the print head or a "waste tank almost full"
Try this link to clear the flashing lights.

Even though the thread deals with s9000 printers most of the Canon printers use the same sequence to enter the service mode.
If you can"t get into the service mode, remove the print head and see if you can after that. If you are able to reset your printer, just reinstall the print head and your printer should work.
