Canon G2100 – Error 5011/5012 - Carriage doesn’t move

When I turn on the printer, there are a couple of sounds, but then the ON green light and the orange light below it flash alternatively, 22 times each one. Then there is a pause followed by another series of 22, and so on.

When I try to print something, now I’m getting error 5011. But yesterday I got error 5012.

The carriage doesn’t move. I can move it manually if I want.

Because of this, the printer doesn’t print.

If I turn it on with the cover opened, the same thing happens. Only that maybe the initial sound is shorter, and I can see how the carriage doesn’t move.

By any chance, do you know what the problem is and how to solve it?

5011/5012 seems to be related to a scanner ribbon getting detached according to this may be worth trying if you are comfortable with taking your printer apart before bringing it to a service center.(assuming that guarantee has lapsed already)

Thank you! I tried that and it didn’t change anything for the moment. But I will look for other videos on Youtube.
