This is just to show the Air intake on top of most Canon cartridges, it’s hidden just under the label and it goes practically unnoticed till there is a problem with the ink flow inside.

This serpentine path starts at one end of the cartridge, which is the only part that can be seen and then wanders along underneath the label leading back to the middle again where the air is then allowed to enter the cartridge through a very small vent hole.

There are two other deep wells along the air path which have some significance and I could hazard a guess as to what they really do but I’d probably wrong so I won’t !

The first one is the outside top of the cartridge the second one is the complete reverse of the top (Inside) and the last one is just a side view showing plastic veins that hang down to protect the air vents integrity, I guess !
