This was posted by user Larry34 and I couldn't move the post so I'm reposting his question and Websnail's reply here:
Websnail replied:Larry said:Hello to all of you ,
Last year I bought Bulk ink for my Canon IP3000 Printer that uses BCI-6 cartridges
for color and BCI-3BK for the black cartridges.
Well, My Canon printer died and I replaced it with a new Epson R200 photo printer that uses dye based Epson color ink in thier TO482, TO483, TO484 TO485 and TO486 inkjet cartridges...
The Black cart is TO481, I don't know what it is, Dye or pigment...
From what I have read the Canon BCI-6 ink is dye based and the BCI-3BK is pigment based ink.
My question is: Can I use the Canon dye based ink I have left to refill my Epson TO48 color carts?
I don't think I can use the Canon Black ink as it is pigment based.
Or should I dump all this Canon ink??
I appreciate any help.
Thanks, Larry
Websnail said:The general rule of thumb is no. This is because Epson uses a cold process for expelling the ink while Canon use a hot/boiling process.
Chances are you'd ultimately cause damage to your printhead..
That said though I wouldn't just chuck your ink away but look to sell it on eBay or see if someone on here wants to fork out a little to take it off your hands.
edit: Oops... realised the last 2 posts should be in a seperate thread as this is not related... Moderator, if you could.. ta
