Can any type of after market ink be used on my printer?

Hello

10 years ago I once bought a lot of ink from Atlantic Inkjet for my hp printer, with my hp dead long time ago I was wondering is it safe to use them for my Canon ip4820 printer. I'm kinda concerned since on these 3rd party ink online stores always they recommend this and that kind of ink for a this printer model, etc. But in the end will it affect or damage the printer?

HP ink should be safe to use in a Canon printer but I'm not sure about 10-year old ink. I think I would buy new ink made especially for your printer

I never really thought of that, guess I can use the rest of them on my really old printer, wouldn't care more or less if that thing explodes halfway while printing.
