Brother MFC-J870DW, turn power off or let sleep?

Should I be turning my printer's power off after use, or do I let it sleep (oftentimes for days at a time)? The old theory of turning the printer off was to let the print heads "park" to avoid ink evaporation. Is that old practice?

I don’t have any Brother printers only Canon but my habit is to have each one turn off automatically a half an hour after use, I tried leaving one of them on just once for a month but it turned out to be a waste of electricity, ink and time..
