I was wondering if anybody has any experience with the above ie - when looking a photo printed on a glossy photo paper at an angle, the dark area (black hair etc) appears matted in comparison to other areas. It's a little bothersome.

I don't believe I have accidentally mixed up the black pigment and the black dye based ink during refill (is there a way to find out?).

Paper - Kirkland glossy
Ink - MIS - inksupply.com
Printer - Canon MP780- setting "glossy paper pro"

Thank you.
Did the test described and the pigment black was stable while the dye based black ran. Therefore I did not accidentally mix up the ink. So I have this problem with dark areas of photo appearing matted in comparison to other areas.

The effect that you are seeing is sometimes referred to as "bronzing" and it shows up when some of the ink does not soak into the glossy coating material on a glossy photo paper. Your choice of printer controls may be just laying down a bit too much black ink in the very dark areas.

I don't really know what will solve your problem, as I have not had the experience. I believe that your choice of ink is fine, as MIS sells Image Specialists inks, and I use them all the time. I also use the Kirkland photo glossy paper which you have.

You might try the same photo printed with your printer set for photo glossy instead of photo glossy plus.

Perhaps others with some experience like yours will come in and suggest other things.
