Hello,

I have a printer ET-8500 and want to print documents in black and white but without using the photo black cartridge (114 PBK) and only use the classic black cartridge (114 BK). The 2 cartridges shrink when I print. Is there a setting for this? I have not found anything.

I want to avoid using photo black, because I found classic black compatible ink in batches which is not the case for photo black.

Thanks.

You want to use a 3rd party on Epson ink in place of the 114 dye black ? I have seen several offers for 3rd party inksets for the ET-8500, any 3rd party Epson compatible dye black ink should do like the InkTec E0010, but please be aware that 3rd party inks typically exhibit a worse longevity performance than OEM inks.

Yes I want to use unofficial ink, I don't do photo printing, only document printing around 3000 sheets per month, mainly in black and white. I am mainly looking for a low cost per page. Here is the ink that I bought, on amazon uk, i am in France but it is exactly the same product.

I also noticed that the official 106 ink is cheaper than 114, is there a difference in quality or composition?

Do you know if I can configure the printer to only use black and not photo black? I have already set black and white printing.

Thanks

What is wrong with pdf files? The documents I have to print are in PDF, they do not come from Word. Can I convert them to another format ?
Thanks

I'm not clear yet why you would try to avoid printing with photo black.

Pricing of the 106 or 114 inks is a matter of the local Epson marketing organisation, and yes - prices vary over time, the prices for the 106 ink oszillate in germany between 9 to 12€ per bottle. 3rd party offerings run at a lower price.

There’s nothing wrong with PDF’s, they are the best format to print from, but if you wish you can export your PDF to a word document and print from there.. !

Because I haven't found compatible photo black ink at a good price. It is for printing on classic paper, without shades of gray.
What do you think of Amazon's LCL ink, it seems well rated? Do you have compatible ink with a better quality/price ratio ?
If you have an idea for a solution for printing in black and white cheaply with EPSON ET 8500.
Thanks

Thank you I will try it like that. There is therefore no specific setting.

As I mentioned before just look for the InkTec E0010 inks you can use for refill, the top of the ET-8500 bottles can be unscrewed with some force. This is the status at Ebay in Germany - there are plenty of suppliers

But again - please be aware that such 3rd party inks have a lower longevity than OEM inks.

Ok thank you, but you don't have photo black in this quantity? The ET-8500 printer is not listed as compatible although many are, is this normal ?

When you talk about reduced longevity, do you talk about the ink on the paper or the longevity of the printer?
