thoughts ???
That still leaves the matter of the nurse needing one of your MX700, you know this will make your confession much more creditable and satisfying.

Time for a drop of the good stuff, your health Jimbo, :hugsbecause you’re truly a man on a mission, full disclosure accepted.. :celebrate

i keep them in hidden an attic over the garage that has only enough room to crawl. the printer boxes are pushed back onto each other so can't see them unless you crawl up there and dive in. i dove in yesterday....
You may have a teeny tiny problem. :gig:hugs

spare printers as of 01/21/19:
Great googly moogly! Awesomeness in the attic. Usually is spiders and squirrels, or grandma mummifying in her rocker at that strange guy's house no one trick or treats at. You have a time capsule of the golden age of inkjet printers. :clap

You are very kind to give printers with full service.
I did the same for my family, lost a lot of time and am now struck with several problematic dye printers and I do not understand what happened (since I print only with pigment ;)).
You never know what people really do with them.

Mine are 525/526, agree with @stratman this was the beginning of the decline

quick update on nurse's MP980:

- i tossed out the B200 PH
- the flaky PH was missing Photo BLACK and gray, even after soaking/drying two separate times

i decided to set her up with one of my refurbished MX700s. the MX700 was introduced 11 years ago in 2008, so now i'm thinking maybe after 11 years of sitting in a box in my attic it may be a boat anchor. see 2008 review: https://www.pcworld.com/article/141484/article.html

i set it up, new print head, new PGI5 and CLI8 carts, plugged it in and to my surprise i get a perfect nozzle check.

to set up the nurse i give her 2 sets of drilled ink carts, so she has a full set of spare carts. she then drops the empties off here during her weekly visit so i can refill them to be picked up next week.

i've been doing this for her for 8 years, have refilled her ink carts 330 times, saving her over $4,000.

i gave her the bad news inside that her 8 year old printer had died. when she was leaving i surprised her and brought out her new MX700 with a bow on it.

she got very emotional, thanked us both over and over, we then thanked her for her great nursing.

J

thx, i already set up up "quiet mode" before i gave it to her.

she's a great nurse and person. nurses tend to move around and often get to pick and choose their patients. might help to keep us on the starting team, or at least is has for the past 8 years.

looks like my "printer hoarding" addiction may have some benefits after all

Nurses have to put up with a lot of crap, literally and figuratively. It is one of the most honorable and blessed of callings - to take care of others. I am sure your kindness is most appreciated and you are like family to her as it sounds like she is to you. :hugs
