Hi,

I was able to get an Artisan 730 cheap so I thought I replace it with my MP250 since it has wifi :)

I hardly print photos so I was thinking to get one of the refillable cartridges and only fill the ink for black and use it until I needed color. The empty color cartridges should still make the printer print, but will it cause any problem to the printer head, etc.?

Also, most of the printing will be for texts. Is it better to get a pigment ink or would it be safer to stick with the dye ink that it uses?
For now Im thinking to get Claria compatible dye black from Precision Colors (and color ink from them if I needed in the future)

Any comments are appreciated.

Will it damage the printer though?

yes! the print head going to damage if you use all set of refillable cart with only 1 black fill with ink .
If you use only 1 black refillable cart and other is oem cart empty then the printer won't let you print .

I'd stick to dye ink.
Not sure about Artisan 730, but there are printers which can be fooled to work with empty color ink cartridges.
