In my opinion this piece of text makes no sense to me. Canon does not make their cartridges to be one time use only. Although there is no reason to believe they actually make them to be refilled many people on this forum have refilled theirs for a long time without problems. It is annoying that they admit that they did not thoroughly tested their product before selling them. When customers complained they discovered something wrong. If they rely on customers to tell them something is wrong how can you use their product? If you search the internet you will find a lot of reports from people about problems in using spongeless cartridges. For Canon printers my cartridges with sponge have worked so well that there is really no reason to switch to something that has a bad track record.
