Advise on finding a good quality, non-smudging colour printer?

Hi, I'm looking for a basic colour printer that will produce high quality prints on both matte and gloss sticker paper for products (5-10 copies a week). All I require is something that prints well and doesn't smudge easily, but I'm not getting anywhere in narrowing this down; the printers I'm looking at all print in the same resolution and I don't know how else to make comparisons.

So my questions are:
-Are there any other factors that should be looked for for print quality?
-How important is ink quality and how do I find a printer that utilises quality ink that is highly resistant to smudging?
-How does paper quality influence printing and what should I look for to assess quality?

Really don't want to cash out for yet another rubbish printer so any help would be amazing!
