I've been filling my Canon ip4000 printer with success.

Now I would like to buy a wide format or A3 cabable printer. I have lots of ink and cartridges for Canon ip4000. I'd like to use my ink AND carts if possible with the new A3 printer. Are there any available that use the same 5 or 4 cart system and ink that my ip4000 uses?

Only wide format (13"x19") using similar cartridges is the Canon i9900 but will be phased out when the new, chipped model is introduced. For now it is available for $399 (after $100 rebate) at CompUSA:

http://www.compusa.com/products/pro...duct_code=311911&Pn=i9900_Color_Photo_Printer.

This is an 8 color photo printer that I have also been using for CAD printing at A3 size. Three of the cartridges are common with the ip4000 and will easily refill.

The iX4000 uses 4 cartridges instead of 5 and you can get away with using the iP4000 ink in their cartridges if you can adjust the colour settings accordingly.

Of course the iX4000 is a chipped printer so you take your chances with the warranty, etc.. but I have to say the print quality and speed for that printer is pretty good :D
