Does a dye (photo ink) A2 CIS printer exist, or is one likely to exist in the near future? (Now - end 2024)

You may have a look to the Epson T3100X which is an Ecotank printer model with dye inks.

I did see this model but the price gap between a L18050 and the T3100X is enormous, which defeats the purpose of using dye inks to reduce cost. The price is higher than a P900.

The T3100X does not appear to be a photo printer either, the ink set seems to be from a document printer

I'm not sure to understand what you expect from a 'photo printer' - why can't you print photos on a T3100x, you have a wide range of the number of inks , the choice between pigment or dye inks in the model ranges frrom the Epson P5000 to the HP T230, and with wide pricing differences as well.

Unfortunately the T230 (it’s called T250 here) costs 1,512 euro equivalent in Asia.

At that price I would be better off going for the P900

Ditto for the T3100x (T3130x here) that’s $2750 euro equivalent here

The P900 is 1225 euro and I don’t think I can justify that one either (printing photos for personal consumption)

Given that the A3+ L18050 costs ~15% more than the A4 L8050, it would be nice to have a A2 option at maybe 30% more than the L8050 😂

You are comparing just printer prices and do not include the cost of the inks over the lifetime of the printer, inks in bottles for Ecotankprinters are much cheaper than ink in cartridges.

Indeed, the bottled inks are significantly cheaper.

I have picked up the L18050 on sale, so I suppose my search for a printer is over for now!
