my very first MP830 died 4 years ago with the dreaded 6A00 code, after 22,000 pages. i tried a few things to fix, but then moved the print head and ink carts to a spare MP830, that is still going strong at over 50,000 pages.
i stumbled upon this link, re 6A00 code on an MX850, very similar to my MP830. it has some great pics so just thought i'd share.
not sure if i agree with the suggestions to fix, but great quality pics

in a bonehead move 4 years ago, i tossed out my old MP830, now wish i had kept it around for parts....
