Going to Splurge and buy a 44 inch Epson.

Two options

The T series which uses 5 inks but only has a max DPI of 1440

or the pro series (same family as 7890 which I use) which has a max dpi of 2880DPI

When printing out posters of people, will 1440 vs 2880 be noticeable?

Also, I will eventually switch over to Refillable cartridges and 5 colors non OEM vs 9 colors non OEM might be easier to be truer to the original Epson ink since there are less colors, am I right in that thinking?

Thanks,

jeff

That’s a tuff one to answer because it all depends on who is answering the question. On a 44 inch width poster the 1440 DPI is more than enough to satisfy any professional but would be laughed at by most want-to-bees.

However a five colour photo output could never match the quality of the nine colour unit regardless of what the DPI was set too, it’s a no brainer because the extra light colours would win hands down..

Would third party inks work better on a 5 color printer than a 9 ink printer?

The DPI number quoted assumes ALL colors are being printed, or ABOUT 300 DPI PER COLOR. Your resolution will not change, but the color gaumet will with more inks...unless the extra inks are for B&W printing. Then the B&W printing will be superior with more grey inks.
