Hi,

Sorry if everyone always asks this.

I'm looking for a Canon MFP where, crucially, the ink cartridges can be reset. I looked in to this in late 2008 and I think it was only the MP610 that the RKS resetter worked with as well as the ip3500 and ip4500.

Canon seems to have replaced almost every model last year and replaced many of those, in Sept and Nov. Can any of the cartridges for the 2009 models be reset or am I stuck having to buy new cartridges?

I managed to fix my printer the last time I investigated this, but it's now completely kaput, so I'm finally going to make the leap to an all-in-one, for compactness.

I've compiled a list of some of Canon's MFPs, including which I think have been superseded by new models - if I've matched them up correctly:

MP990 (Nov 2009)
MP980 (2009)
MP970 (2007/2008)

MP640 (Sept 2009)
MP630 (2009)
MP610 (2007/2008)

MP620 (2009)
MP600R (2007/2008)

MP560 (Sept 2009)
MP550 (Sept 2009)
MP540 (2009)
MP520 (2007/2008)

MX860 (2009)
MP830 (2007/2008)

MX7600 (2009; old body; new internals?)
MX700 (2007/2008)

I've linked to the U.K. 2007/2008 and 2009 catalogues, here:

The 2009 catalogue doesn't contain the latest 'Sept 2009' and 'Nov 2009' printers. It's also available from the link below.

Canon U.K. site: http://www.canon.co.uk/For_Home/Product_Finder/Multifunctionals/Inkjet/index.asp

All the above printers still seem to be available, from one place or another.

These are the inks used with the 2007/2008 Canon MFPs:
CLI-8 PM
CLI-8 PC
CLI-8 M
CLI-8 C
CLI-8 Y
CLI-8 B
PGI-5 BK

2009:
CLI-521 GY
CLI-521 M
CLI-521 C
CLI-521 Y
CLI-521 BK
PGI-520 BK

MX7600:
PGI-9 M
PGI-9 C
PGI-9 Y
PGI-9 PBK
PGI-35 B
PGI-9 Clear

As you can see, Ive wasted my time on quite a bit of research.

Any help on which MFP I should swing towards would be greatly appreciated. I haven't decided which features I should convince myself I don't need, so they are all possibilities.

Thanks.
