Try using graphic design software, preferably vector type (Illustrator), you can also set the page size in Publisher, not sure how large it will go. Then your 1400 should output the file as designed & saved.

If nothing else works, it's drastic, try uninstalling the software, and reinstalling, hopefully when it asks that you plug it in via a printer cable, it'll recognize them.

I got the Artisan 725, same Claria inks, I researched on ebay if there was empty refillable cartridges, there was. I already had some ink from an Epson R380 and the printer works like a champ. I can refill with ease.
