The Hat, Thank you so much! I searched Ink starvation and found another post by you that suggested tapping the cartridges to reseat the sponge. I did this and my prints are coming out almost perfect. The only problem now is that the greys are printing a little warm (please see attachment)...

Quick update, Please see attached test print that The Hat gave me. Appears that there is indeed something up with the yellow. Would you also say that there's something wrong with the Magenta (banding in SWOP and resolution tests)? Please let me know what replacement cartridges I should order...

Hi Hat, Many thanks for the reply. So yellow cartridge starvation explains why the printer will always print the first inch or two of a colour image perfectly, but give purple cast to the rest of the image? Seems a bizarre symptom... I'd be really glad if all that needs fixing is the yellow...

Thank you Hat, The ink tanks were all empty prior to refilling, however, they were not purged (still contained ink in the sponge). Your comments make sense as the red hue appears to be becoming more evident the more I print. I am astonished to have seen so much advocacy for compatible inks...

Thank you for the detailed response. This is sounding expensive. I will have to resort to playing with the colour management myself, as suggested. Would there be a guide anywhere to doing this? I can not find any colour management options in the canon drivers.
