    Pigment black and CISS

Sounds reasonable. I guess I could also use the pigment black OEM cartridge in the one out of five slots that uses it, then use dye ink CISS in the other 4. Thanks for the advice. You've all had good luck using pigment black refill ink in the Canon OEM PGI-5 cartridges then? No clogged nozzles?

    Canon Black

Just looked it up again. At the time of origin, the MP830 uses composite black for duplex. But given how much flack they got for it, this may be the only Canon printer that does it. Not sure if Hagaki solves the problem, either, judging from a follow-up post, but I think it likely that...

Suggestions for 3rd party color inks for CISS

Interesting. Thanks! Does pigment black fade? That's made from charcoal usually, isn't it?

    Pigment black and CISS

Will I stand a greater chance of clogging my nozzles, messing up the purge system, or saturating the waste tank wicks if I use pigment black for the pigment black position in my CISS? Currently, I think my CISS is using dye black for both the PGI-5 and CLI-8bk cartridges. If I were to use...

    Canon Black

Actually, not sure if that is 100% correct. In duplex mode, the MP830 may use composite black (mixture of the color dyes), whereas in simplex mode, it may use pigment black and / or dye black. You'd have to check. As I recall, people were complaining because the behavior was eating up the...

    Canon Black

I read a Canon forum regarding the MP830 (which I own), that the printer may use pigment black for single sided printing, but always uses the dye cartridges and never the pigment black for duplex printing. Someone asked a Canon rep about this, and the reason given was that the strong color of...

Suggestions for 3rd party color inks for CISS

Many of the OEM color inks are marketed by suggesting that the fading characteristics of their inks may allow them to last for up to 100 years. You may have seen a study by Wilhelm Imaging Research which concluded that the majority of 3rd party inks fade very rapidly. I was asking myself if...

Most reliable inkjet printer for CISS?

I saw the post on one inch negative pressure for Canon cartridges. Hopefully, this will make for a reliable Canon CISS but we'll see.

Most reliable inkjet printer for CISS?

My CISS has chipped carts, but the printer wasn't recognizing the third-party chips on the CISS carts at all. I also had separate OEM carts that I had refilled several times. Though still usable, the printer would sometimes not recognize the chips on the OEM carts, requiring that the OEM carts...

Most reliable inkjet printer for CISS?

Actually, I think I may now have CISS running on the MP830. I had to take the entire printer carriage out, remove the terminals and circuit boards that interface with the chips on the ink carts, clean all the ink out of the terminals and this small circuit board, then put the whole carriage &...

Most reliable inkjet printer for CISS?

Also, I hate to sound wasteful, but throwing away a $84 Epson Stylus C88+ that is perhaps messed because of a clogged port from bad application of CISS is not much more expensive then buying a whole set of their outrageously priced inks. Or else maybe I should just throw out the whole printer...

Most reliable inkjet printer for CISS?

I hear ya, and perhaps you're both right that using CISS isn't worth it. But refilling carts as often as I need to just to get a couple pages out (for how little I use the damn thing), making a big mess etc... - then worry that the chips in the carts are screwed up, which has happened a couple...

    Dell color laser 3130cn refillable?

Hi, wondering about the Dell 3130cn color laser: http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/product/43918/review/dell_3130cn.html .. are the cartridges refillable? Can chips be purchased?

Most reliable inkjet printer for CISS?

Hmm... the print heads are not removable on Epsons then? It would seem at first that it would make sense for someone who does not print often to use refillable cartridges; however I've been doing this for the last couple years, and found that my Canon tends to consume ink even when not in use...

Most reliable inkjet printer for CISS?

Three possibilities I am thinking about though others may suggest others... 1. Epson Workforce 40, which uses cartridges Black (T097120), Cyan (T069220), Magenta (T069320), Yellow Ink (T069420). http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/Product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&sku=C11CA27201 2. Epson...

Most reliable inkjet printer for CISS?

I'm planning on selling my Canon MP830 and getting a different printer that will work reliably with CISS. From these forums, is there a consensus as to what inkjet printer brand and model work most reliably for CISS? I'm assuming it's going to be an Epson? If you can't recommend a single...
