I have a good supply of PGI and CLI cartridges and iP4500 and MX850 printers. I am using 2 MX850 and have 3 MX850 and 1 iP4500 in storage. With my chip resetter, I am good for a very long long time. ;)
I tend to agree not to try it with a good print head although it costs me only $10 each for my backup iP4500s. I am going to take the MX-700 to replace the MP610.
My MP610 gave me U052 error today.
U052: The type of print head is incorrect. Install the correct print head.
MP610 and iP4500 uses the same printhead. I have backup iP4500 printers.
Is it safe to put a good printhead into the MP610 with U052 error?
I think it is safe because the hardware...
After spending over 3 months trying every methods on this forum to solve the flow problem with my MP830, I use a syringe pump, similar to guyg, to slowly sucking water through the nozzle. Leaving water soaked inside the print head overnight. I was able to clear the partial clog between the...
My MP830 had the same flow problem on the dye (photo) black. I had tried over 3 months without fixing the flow problem.

It is not due to clogged nozzle. It is a partial clog at the channel between the nozzle and the ink inlet screen. I...
Tin Ho, let me try to understand. The print head works fine in the printer at another office using pigment ink. It does not work with pigment ink in the printer at the first office. But works fine with dye ink. Am I correct?
The CLI-8BK cartridge is dye black. If you select duplex printing (print on both side), it will use the CLI-8BK because the dye black dries faster. But you should replace the 5BK cartridge ASAP to avoid print head damage.
You have done all that you could without taking the cover. It is time to get a MP830 service manual or Google disassemble instruction to take the cover off. It is impossible to fix purge unit mechanical problem without the cover off.
I set my iP4500 to auto-sleep and do a nozzle check once per week. It prints as good as day one. It does a maintenance cycle before printing if time since last print is long.
My MX850 AIO does the maintenance cycle too.
During the search for the solution for my MX700 6A80 error, I found that Canon uses 6A00 error on some printer. They are referring to the same problem. Something is wrong with the mechanical problem with the purge unit. When your printer has this problem, you need to disassemble your printer...
Canon uses 6A00 in some model and uses 6A80 in other model. Both of them related to the AP position error. I just fixed the MX700 6A80 error

I purchased a MX770 with error 6A80 for a song.
I goggled 6A80 for solution. Most of the printers with this error has the print head locked to the right. But this one with the print head always went back to the left and cannot be in the fully parked position. With the help of the following...
You can use the same cleaning cartridge for different color if you want. But you need the chip for that color to be put on to the cleaning cartridge. Double sided tape is perfect to stick the chip onto the cartridge.
E02813/ E02814 : Head management sensor error

This is the first time that I see a Canon with the print head separated from the ink cartridges like a CIS. Brother uses this design on most (if not all) Brother printers.
I used to have a Brother AIO. I tried take the print head out. It was a mess. Then, I got my MX850.
Try to get the...
For a non-working printer, donation to charity is the best way.
People at Craigslist and Kijiji are looking for bargain. You won't get any money for a non-working printer. After picking up a few mint condition iP4500 printers from Kijiji ad between $10 -$20, I sold my sealed-in-box iP4500 for...
Error 5020 is scanner lock switch error.
The following quote is from http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080101151720AAF3gUW
Read your installation procedure. It should have a step to release the scanner lock switch.
Is there any sign of burnt around the connections area at the print head carrier?
Reset your printer:
1. Unplug power.
2. Press on/off switch for 10 seconds to drain any residual energy stored in the capacitors.
3. Plug power and turn on printer and hope for the best.
