Canon Pixma IP4000 - suddenly stopped printing anything

Update: It seems the 3eBk is still working fine but no other colours work . I tried soaking the head in cleaning fluid but it made no difference ,the head looks ok ,as in none of the nozzles look blocked . I'm a bit stumped .

Canon Pixma IP4000 - suddenly stopped printing anything

I now have the same problem with my Ip4000. No ink is coming out of the head . Everything seems normal, the printer detects the head and the ink levels but no ink seems to be coming out . The printer was working well before this,I'd get the odd blockage in the Magenta head but the other colours...

Recommendation for new printer, old Pixma 3000 had died after 6 years

Update Loathe to switch to a newer printer and chipped cartridges I looked around for second hand Ip3000's. I found a few in the Uk but they wouldnt ship to me. I also tried ebay.de and found a good few listings on there . I found a second hand Ip3000 which had a faulty printhead but otherwise...

Recommendation for new printer, old Pixma 3000 had died after 6 years

Update: I checked the voltages on the psu in the ip3000 and they are ok. 24v between the red and black pin and 3.2v between the yellow and black pin. That rules the psu out so its unlikely I'll get the 3000 working again as it must be a more complex failure. Now to source an ip4700

Recommendation for new printer, old Pixma 3000 had died after 6 years

Thanks The Hat ,much appreciated. The idea of using 520/521 cartridges in a newer printer using a chip swap is a good one . I intend to use Octoink or Inksupply ink (has served me well in the past) . I found a new iP4700 on Amazon.co.uk but unfortunately they wont deliver to Ireland but I'll...

Recommendation for new printer, old Pixma 3000 had died after 6 years

My old Pixma 3000 which has served me well for the last 6 years finally gave up the ghost last week.:( We had been through thick and thin together ,it was often a love hate relationship due to Cyan clogs in the head . I had gone through 4 printheads in 6 years but I had resolved the clogging...

    Pixma 3000

Cheers Hat, I was actually browsing Octoinks website earlier today ,looking at their bottled ink. I will buy a few bottles to test out on your recommendation. I will stick to the Jettec and Projet prefilled cartridges though as they have served me well.

    Pixma 3000

Time for an update on my Pixma 3000.:) Its still going strong over 4 years later on the same printhead . I eventually think I figured out what the reason for my well documented woes with the Cyan colour was. I think it was due to low grade ink having some compatibility issues with the printhead...

    ip4000 has a reoccurring clog that I can't fix

I had the exact same problem as you. After much trial and tribulation I figured out it was the Cyan ink that was defective. I switched to MIS ink in June, just the Cyan colour, and the printer has worked perfectly since. It solved my problem so it may help you.

    Pixma 3000

Update: After steaming the printhead it worked perfectly for about 3 weeks of heavy printing then the Cyan nozzles were blocked again. I decided to order MIS Cyan ink and to use this instead of the compatible ink I had been using. I had the head resteamed and I used the MIS ink for Cyan and the...

    MIS Ink :Fast

I had been having some problems with the Cyan ink for my Pixma 3000 so I've decided to switch to MIS ink as recommended here. I had looked at getting Formulabs and Hobbicolors ink but the delivery costs were prohibitive. I decided on MIS ink and I ordered a Pint of Cyan ink and a small bottle of...

Looking to buy a good printer with the cheapest ink

You should try and buy a Canon 3000,4000 or 5000 if possible. They are hard to come by as they have been superseded however they are still available . Their cartridges are unchipped and very easy to refill. By the way $20 for a 3 color refill kit is extortion. I bought some Jettec refill kits...

    Pixma 3000

Well I went into the printer Cartridge shop and the guy cleaned the head using a steamer device. It worked perfectly, the printhead is working fine again. Time will tell how long it performs correctly. So after trying a whole list of cleaning methods ,the only successful one was steaming. I must...

    Pixma 3000

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm trying soaking the printhead in Methylated Spirits and a small drop of hot water. There is a printer shop in my local town and I'm going to go in there tomorrow. The guy working there says he has some machine for cleaning Printheads. Dont know exactly what it is...

    Pixma 3000

Hmm this is very interesting. I have used Windolene in the past to try and clean the printhead. It is Windex in the USA. However I noticed that Windolene is kind of syrupy,is Windex like this ? I'll try a canister of compressed air too and hope this will resolve the issue.

    Pixma 3000

I'm in Ireland but I'll look around for one in Europe. Prices here seem to be around 230 for one as opposed to $99 in the US. Bit of a difference. Cheers,I'll check further.

    Pixma 3000

I do alot of photo printing to be honest. I probably use around 5-6 sets of colour cartridges a month. I'd like to get an upgrade but the new range of Canon printers are chipped and cost too much to run. I'm really finding it weird that the Cyan colour is causing such difficulties while the...
