In my experience, the IP4200 is the most bullet-proof and reliable Canon printer. I had a lot of problems with later models. After realizing this, I bought a supply of them... I still have a couple of new ones in storage.

Based on my research I have to agree with the consensus here. There is little point in trying to equip an ip4500 with a CIS - you will spend an inordinate time trying to get it to work, and if you succeed, it won't last, unless you are unusually blessed by the Technology gods. Plus, the ip4500...
I just tried it out, and I was actually quite pleased with the results. When set at 12 points, you can't really see the circles, so the font is quite readable. At a fast (draft) setting, which is an ink saver in itself, this font prints in a way that contrasts surprisingly well with the paper...

To save others the trouble, 'fotopapier a3' produced no results on the U.S. eBay, or U.S. eBay with 'worldwide' checked, on December 27, 2008. Whatever stock that store had is long gone, it seems.
