    PGI-225 CLI-226 - replace or refill?

I placed an order for 2 more sets of 225/226 carts hours before the suggestion was made to use 220's. This would make 5 sets available to refill for many moons. The company I ordered from is closed until Wednesday morning giving me a small window in which to cancel the order. Since I always do...

    PGI-225 CLI-226 - replace or refill?

Swapped chips and it functions normally with the 221 installed in place of the 225. I ran a nozzle check which produced a normal print. It works. Still would require a 225/226 resetter to employ that strategy, yah?

    PGI-225 CLI-226 - replace or refill?

Aha! You got me, stratman. I did not. It did fit in the slot OK. But... given that the 220/221 carts are opaque and a resetter for the new carts may be imminent, I think I'll stay with the 225/226's because, under those conditions, I don't perceive any advantage to switching to 220/221's.

    PGI-225 CLI-226 - replace or refill?

Now we know. I replaced the CLI-226Bk with a CLI-221Bk. No go. Also worth noting: the cartridge is black like the 226. Can't see the ink level. I'll be watching for the introduction of a chip resetter for the PGI-225 / CLI-226's.

    PGI-225 CLI-226 - replace or refill?

Thanks tigerwan. That leaves me in the throes of indecision about switching to 220/221 carts since you can see through the tank for a visible ink level check though it's not definitely established that they'll fit in place of the 225/226's. I was about to go out and buy some to try. What would...

    PGI-225 CLI-226 - replace or refill?

Advice noted, stratman. Thanks. And I won't have to wait for a resetter to be developed for the 220's. Yay!

    PGI-225 CLI-226 - replace or refill?

All righty, then. I'll go with the 220's since the implication is that they'll fit. I'll be watching for news of a resetter's availability. Thanks for your inputs. Much appreciated.

    PGI-225 CLI-226 - replace or refill?

I thought I had read that the 225/226 ink was a new formulation. Does anyone know that 220/221 ink is the same? "Does it matter?", I ask myself. Myself doesn't know but tends to think it would matter. I like this option if the carts are the same size and would fit. I hate to refill OEM carts...

    PGI-225 CLI-226 - replace or refill?

I've refilled Canon BCI-3 cartridges for over 10 years. I recently bought a Canon Pixma MX882 with its new cartridges, PGI-225P CLI-226 containing chips that I've never had to deal with before. These cartridges are new enough that chip resetters are not available yet. Now I'm faced with a...

    Canon printer guru

Last week, my trusty Canon MP730 multi-function printer stopped printing black ink. Ive been refilling cartridges for years and have occasionally run into problems but its rare that I cant fix it. This time I was stuck. A couple years ago, I was similarly stuck and found myself browsing these...
