Hi
If you have the ink chamber full of water after flushing then insert needle as if you are refilling and inject air into the chamber, the ink level will fall rapidly.
Here is the Thread on flushing methods.

Hi Nanosec
Am I smelling a rat here, a friend at work bought a 4500 the same time as I did (about 13 Months ago) when I went in to work Monday he commented that his printer was not printing red only yellow this is the exact same problem that my printer had on the weekend. The Magenta cart was...
The carts were 3/4 full at the time and my printer had about 30 refills and the other printer had 6 sets of carts (3 canon 3 refills), I have used the same brand of ink in the last printer and that had about 7000 sheets and 500 cd's before it died.
Has anyone else had a printer fail after 13-14...

The noise you describe is the purge pump in the front right hand side, my 4500 makes the same sounds. All normal just enjoy the 4500 last of Canon's good printers.
In Australia the supermarkets carry 4lt bottles of demineralised water for use in steam irons, costs about $4 AU.
I use tap water for the first rinse then a couple syringes of demineralised water, then suck out the water with a vacuum pump.
have a look at this post...
Hi
I use the purge, refill hole higher up as it avoids the output filter, after a few fills there seems to be a channel and the needle slips in very easy.
Time taken to refill 5 carts is 12 min including cleaning syringe between colours.
Point taken on Ethylene glycol I hve modified the text.
Hi Dougsewell
I have an old IP3000 sitting around the shed, I can rip out the pads stick them in an airmail envelope and send them to you, cost --nothing, just send an email with your address and they will be on the way.

Hi
I have decided to come up with a more practical device for flushing carts, this one uses a fire extinguisher head as the control valve. The original model was a bit tricky to regulate the flow.
Drop around to your local fire equipment servicing agent and beg, borrow or otherwise obtain an old...
Hi avolanche
I still get my empty carts from recycling bins at stores that have them, some even drag the bin out from behind the counter to let me fossick thru.
Have a look at the topic below for flushing method, after flushing I run a couple of syringes of demineralised water thru the cart to...
Hi Avolanche
The voltage should not be a problem as a new alkaline cell is about 1.54v(a good brand) and the sag will be very little.
If you can only get a 2 X AA holder then also buy a battery snap to fit, then solder the wires on to the +ve and
-ve solder pads, If your resetter is the same...
Hi Avolanche
If you go to Tandy or Radio shack and get a double AA battery holder and solder the flying leads across the battery holder (Check the polarity with a meter)they should last for years, and easy to replace. The back of the battery holder could be stuck to the bottom of the resetter...
Hi Bird333
This design is for a single 3v cell resetter, if you have a 2cell or 3cell type then for a 2cell use a regulated 6v supply
and for a 3 cell 9v. If the voltage is correct the diodes are not required, they are there to drop the voltage from 5v down to 3v (0.6v per diode)
Check the...
I have been using a Redsetter on Ip4500 & Ip4200's for about 80 resets so far, the only problem I have encountered is the battery going flat.
I do three resets then the resetter refuses to do anything until it has a rest, I took the resetter apart and found that the battery voltage was...

Hit me with an email and I will send you some 50mm needles and flushed out 5's and 8's to cut up and practise on, It is much easier to visualise what is happening inside the cartridge once you cut away the side wall and strip out the fibre sponge, you can then see the hole for the tip...
