InkTec refill kits: do Canon "5" inks = Canon "6" inks?

Unfortunately I'm unlikely to order them unless I can find out what the difference is between the BCI-5 series inks (which is what they're selling, I think) and the BCI-6 series inks that the ip4000 supposedly requires.

InkTec refill kits: do Canon "5" inks = Canon "6" inks?

I've been searching around for InkTec refill kits for the Canon ip4000, since InkTec got a good lightfast rating. Seems the bulk inks are expensive (tiny bottles) but perhaps I'll try the refill kits and then see. However... I looked on the InkTec site at <http://www.inktec.com/> (a Korean...

Syringes for refilling. What do you use / do?

Amazing description of your slinging technique! You could try applying for a job in the ancient Roman army... I believe they employed slingers... :) My concern was that the InkTec technique of sticking a needle right up into the sponge (through the outlet hole? I couldn't quite follow their...

Syringes for refilling. What do you use / do?

I guess maybe this belongs in another thread, but I was thinking of going with InkTec inks. A comparitive review of longevity (ink fading) at: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1003&message=12198835 seems to indicate that next to Canon, the InkTec inks are the most permanent; the...

Syringes for refilling. What do you use / do?

But, as I mentioned, the pharmacy won't sell me sharp syringes; they said you need a prescription for them in this state. I was hoping that if I could find "dull syringes" there would be no such restriction. I've looked at refill kits at a couple of sites online -- none of them actually listed...

    Ink-level-detector defective?

    > ...canon printers don't really monitor the actual level of ink... Okay, thanks, I sort of knew that... but shouldn't the printer be counting usage (number of pages printed) before the "ink low" warning, and showing an estimate of some intermediate ink level? I think in another thread someone...

Syringes for refilling. What do you use / do?

I went into a local pharmacy and asked the pharmacist about the "blunt syringes" I've read about in another thread in this forum. She said she never heard of blunt syringes -- she only has the sharp kind, and you can't buy those without a prescription in this state. I do have three...

    Ink-level-detector defective?

This may be one of the newbiest questions ever asked around here... On my new Canon ip4000 (bought about two weeks ago), I've been watching the ink-level display in the print dialog box, and it showed full carts even though I've already printed several hundred document pages. I figured, wow...

MIS, Atlantic Inkjet, and Formulabs inks for Canon

I'm thinking about refilling carts for my new Canon Pixma ip4000, which I haven't done before. As most of you already know, the inks for this printer are: Cyan: BCI-6C Magenta: BCI-6M Yellow: BCI-6Y Black: BCI-6BK Large, pigmented black: BCI-3eBK This whole subject is a little scary...
