Help needed: Canon iP4000 printing color instead of B/W

I meant using the paper feeder on top to feed through one paper at the time, then flip that paper so the printer prints on the "back side" of the paper. The printer can be set to print single sided, but you feed the same paper through twice to get print on both sides. That way you can have it...

Help needed: Canon iP4000 printing color instead of B/W

Well, there's always the option of feeding the papers manually from the top one at the time, and achieve "manual" duplex printing. I've done that when printing on cardboard, for instance. It's just a pain when you want to print a lot of pages that way...

Help needed: Canon iP4000 printing color instead of B/W

Whether it's done on purpose or not, I, personally, still think it's a design flaw, from my point of view. Whether the Canon techs see it as such is irrelevant, to me. Sorry, but that's how I see it. I'm a customer, and the customer is always right. ;) As for what language the driver is in...

Help needed: Canon iP4000 printing color instead of B/W

Thanks! That was exactly the information I was looking for! I still think it's weird, since duplex printing is mainly (I'd guess 95% or more of the time) done with black and white text from a word processor, so it seems silly that you are forced to print that using the color cartridges...

Help needed: Canon iP4000 printing color instead of B/W

I tried using the Print Advisor, and got the same results as with choosing greyscale "manually", so to speak. It works for single sided printing, but not for duplex printing. The printer still goes into color printing mode when doing duplex printing. This has to be a bug in the driver. Or maybe...

Help needed: Canon iP4000 printing color instead of B/W

It doesn't really help that there are three places where you can set the printing options. There's the "standard" printing options in the Advanced tab in the properties for the printer, the "Printer settings" in the General tab, and then again the Options when you're printing.

Help needed: Canon iP4000 printing color instead of B/W

Yes, the advice to turn off duplex printing was very good. I didn't mean my reply to seem terse. It was meant as a joke. "When in doubt, reinstall" is used a lot about Windows and Windows drivers around here. :) I will try your approach, even though my driver is in Swedish, so "Print Advisor"...

Help needed: Canon iP4000 printing color instead of B/W

Well, I think the "duplex" thing was the problem for me. When I try printing with the option to print on both sides of the paper, it prints in color, no matter what, but if I uncheck that option, it does what I want it to do. Poor quality control of the driver, there?

Help needed: Canon iP4000 printing color instead of B/W

I have the printer set for plain paper and greyscale. That's why I want help. The printer clearly ignores the settings, when the image contains color information.

Help needed: Canon iP4000 printing color instead of B/W

Well, I print on plain paper, and it still uses the color cartridges to print images, even though I tell it to print greyscale, if the image contains any color information other than grayscales. If I make the image into grayscale in an image manipulation program and THEN print it, the printer...

Help needed: Canon iP4000 printing color instead of B/W

Hello! I tried looking for an answer to my question on the forum using the search function but couldn't find anything about my specific problem, which is this: When I print a color image and set the properties for the printer to print in greyscale (B/W), it still prints in color. I want to...
