Grandad35, thanks for responding. I am still using my old iP8500 with costco paper and ColorBat (Image Specialists) ink. My photos from a few years ago, unprotected, have faded. I plan to continue using the iP8500 for text printing.
For photos I recently purchased an Epson R2880 from...
After retireing for the second time a year ago, I got involved in photography via www.nikonians.org and now I am starting to look at printing again.
Four years ago you were printing with a Canon i9900 and non OEM inks. With your printer profiles you were getting excellent quality photo prints...
Soja,
In using Grandad's printer profiles, you missed something along the way. If you could describe
in detail what you did, including pictures of your setup screens, then someone will help you.
Working with color management is difficult at first.
JV
Muad Dib,
To correct the color cast you are getting with Bulkinkjetcarts or any other ink you need to use
custom printer profiles. To use printer profiles, assuming you do not use Photoshop:
1. Download 30 day free demo of Qimage from http://ddisoftware.com/qimage/
Purchase price is $50...
quasarsky,
You do not need to puncture the cyan tank. It is normal to use ink from the sponge chamber
first without using ink from the ink chamber. Posts #9 and #34 of this Topic show a chart
explaining how ink is used. When you get a "low ink" signal, you should get a new cartridge
ready...
WeInk is more expensive, but the ink cost is only 6 cents per 8" x 10" photo page. WeInk is an established company and distributs Image Specialists ink to retail customers. The ink can be identified by Image Specialists ink numbers.
Image Specialist is the only present source of BCI-7 /CLI-8...
There is a difference in some of the colors between BCI-6 and the BCI-7 / CLI-8 inks; see
www.image-specialists.com/desktop.htm and compare the printer models.
BCI-7 and CLI-8 use the same Image Specialists inks and they can be ordered from www.weink.com

The BCI-7/8 inks are different from the BCI-6 inks. The Bk, M, PM, PC and, R color inks were changed. The C, G and Y colors remained the same. See www.image-specialists.com/desktop.htm

I have used the OA100 cartridges on a iP8500 printer.
See www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=192&p=4 Post #31 third cartridge tested.
You need a custom printer profile to get the best colors with OA100 cartridges.
Refilling is easy to learn, and is preferred because you can order...
It would be desirable to develop a standard fading test setup using the black fluorescent lights presented by Grandad in Post #6. I will look at existing fading test setups and report back.

When the triangular prism at the bottom of the ink tank is exposed (ink tank almost empty or empty) the optical sensor triggers the "low ink" signal. At this point there is about 4 to 5 cc's of ink in the sponge chamber. That can only be determined by weighing the cartridge and...
Vin787,
The OA100 cartridges have been used on a iP4000, see
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1003&thread=15408971
The above forum cam be searched to find other users of the OA100 carts.

Vin787,
I have been reading most of the forums and I no one has reported using BIJC on the IP5000. You could call Scott 1-888-259-3827 at BIJC.
All of the non OEM cartridges require color adjustments to get the best colors.
See www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=192&p=3 Post #23...
mytime45,
How do your nozzle check patterns look? Have you run print head cleaning? If you still have the problem try using a OEM BCI-3eBk cart to see if the problem is in the printer.
JV
mytime45,
What printer are you using? I only have experience with the BCI-3eBk (BIJC#1) carts on a i860 printer. It is printing without problems and with good photo colors without a printer profile. With BIJC#2 on the iP8500 printer I was getting a green cast on brown and black colors that was...
Osage,
The BCI-6 cartridges have 13 ml or cc of ink, as on the OEM package. 4 cc remains in the cartridge at the empty signal. It takes about 0.7 cc of ink to print one 8 x 10 photo. One OEM cart is $10 and a compatible cart is $1.86. The ink cost with compatible carts is 186 x 0.7 / (13-4)...
