Cyan Quits Again On Brand New Print Head

Thanks for the cleaning method,GH. Could you please let me know if I need to "evacuate the ink in it" when I remove the print head to wash in warm tap water. And how do you make cleaning cartridges? I tossed my old cartridges when I starttd having problems. Can a cleaning cartridge be made...

Cyan Quits Again On Brand New Print Head

I looks like all colors are going down except cyan. I'm sorry if I don't understand the purge test that ghwellsjr suggested. Did I not already do the equivalent test when I cleaned the pads? It won't take long to do again if not but otherwise it would just be a waste of time.

Cyan Quits Again On Brand New Print Head

When i started having this problem and before I replaced the print head, I put windex on both pads and ran cycles and repeated the Windex until the pads were both nearly pure white and I think the windex was always gone. Thus, I think I have tried what you suggested. I suppose it's now the...

Cyan Quits Again On Brand New Print Head

Well, I got the Canon ink and put in new Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow. Still no Cyan prints. Clean did no good. Deep clean resulted in a streaked dark cyan band and very streaked light (very). Repeated clean test clean test test deep clean test etc. cycles resulted in the fact that clean...

Cyan Quits Again On Brand New Print Head

I have been using refilled cartridges that I get from LaserMonks.com. They seemed to work well for quite a while, but I will be getting genuine Canon carts. as soon as I get near a store that sells them. I'll put them in and hope for the best. Anyone else had a problem with LaserMonks carts?

Cyan Quits Again On Brand New Print Head

I had tried all the cleaning methods and they didn't work on my IP 5200, so I bought a new printhead. All went well for about 30 copies and then greyscale printing resulted in red lines. I did a check and the cyan was gone again. I had cleaned the pads with windex before installing the new...

Very Strange Behavior for Canon IP 5200

Great! Thanks ghwellsjr. When it arrives I can do that. I will also get a bottle of Windex and soak the pads good and let it stand a day or so before I put in the new heads. That should take care of most things unless the purge pump is plugged/broke.

Very Strange Behavior for Canon IP 5200

I ordered a new printhead from Canon. It only cost less than 60 bucks and looked like the easy way out of a dilemma. Most likely to fix whatever caused the problem. Now I need to search for a post telling how to dissasemble an IP5200 at this forum. If anyone has a link please add it to this...

Very Strange Behavior for Canon IP 5200

I am ready to give up and go for a new printer if this is a major problem. i have some OEM ink that I will try, but if that doesn't work I have over a hundred bucks worth of refill carts that i will lose unless there is a Canon printer that still uses the CLI8 and 5BK refills. In other posts...

Very Strange Behavior for Canon IP 5200

My old IP 5200 has printed several boxes of rheems of paper. For the last few days I have been trying to make photo prints from my digital camera and using a flat bed scanner with an old BW print. My camera prints have a deep yellow/orange cast and the black and white print refuses to copy BW...

Major Crisis Can't get The Cartridge Carrier to Center on my IP5200

Sorry, I fixed the problem. Found that the screw used to seal one of the vent holes caught the edge of the case. This is a new happening and means I will have to cut off a bit of the plastic where this happens. Cannonvictim

Major Crisis Can't get The Cartridge Carrier to Center on my IP5200

I got spotty black printing on my Canon Pixma IP 5200 so I opened the top door and front door and the carrier centered. I took out the pigmented black cart. and proceeded to refill it. When I came back the carrier had moved to the far right and refused to center when I closed the doors and...

Problem Refilling CLI-8 and PGI-5 Cartridges

I just wanted to update my original post in this thread. I have now finished refilling 4 of the 5 cartridges on the Pixma (I had a new dye black cart.). I only had a real problem with the cyan. It was caused by the original outlet plug never resealing. I solved it by sealing the outlet with...

Problem Refilling CLI-8 and PGI-5 Cartridges

Sorry, mikling. I didn't mean to give the impression that I thought your kits were shoddy. I posted a while back that I am ham fisted and was just trying to prove a point. I see why everyone goes to the trouble to get out the ball, but I have a set of drills of all sizes and a tap set in a...

Problem Refilling CLI-8 and PGI-5 Cartridges

Thanks for the encouragement SLR I used the thin strapping tape used for packages when I filled the PGI 5 pigmented black cartridge and it worked perfectly. I bought my refill kit from Precision Color that often posts in this forum. The kit came with instructions to use a hot paper clip or...

Problem Refilling CLI-8 and PGI-5 Cartridges

I may have based my speculation on the old HP printer I had used. There a jet cleaning was done by printing a page with a very heavy ink pattern. I suspect I have been squirting ink into some cleaning reservoir inside the printer. If so I have wasted a lot of ink. Cannonvictim :(

Problem Refilling CLI-8 and PGI-5 Cartridges

I have not been able to do a nozzle cleaning operation since I started refilling my carts. on the Pixma IP5200. When I go to the Maintenance tab for the printer and press clean, I eventually get a screen that causes a nozzle test pattern, but never can get to a cleaning cycle. The instructions...

I'm Just Giving Up On My Canon

OK I'll give it one try. I really hope someone here can direct me to the best place where the CLI 8 and PGBK cartridge refill procedures are clearly outlined and the source for ink that works too. I found a post that had so many updates that I really couldn't follow what to do. I think the...

I'm Just Giving Up On My Canon

Come on mikling give me a break. I'm 76 years old and ham fisted. I don't need to figure out how to punch out bb's or which type of screw to reseal a refilled cartridge. What I need is cheap prefilled carts that don't need chips removed or attached. I would like to get such a printer cheap...

I'm Just Giving Up On My Canon

:(I have had it with the Pixma IP 5200 that I purchased because I made a mess trying to refill the cartridges on my old Lexmark Z52. Nothing but fiddle and fiddle with chips and carts. If an after market cart that has usable chips had come along I would keep this. As it is I'm sending it to...
