Green colourcast using Image Specialists (MIS) Ink with Canon iP5000

I wonder if the Hobbicolors BCI-6 ink is Image Specialists? It has the same the same grn/yellow cast problems. Though, perhaps cyans are more difficult to manufacture or something, making the yel/grn cast a common problem. Regardless, the Hobbicolors UW-8 ink works great in my IP5000 and has...

HobbiColors for my iP8500 make prints look greenier

I agree about profiling for all inks I've tried, with the exception of the Hobbicolors UW8 ink. I found the HC UW-8 ink was highly neutral and more importantly, very linear, out of the box. Tinting can be accomplished with printer settings becasue the ink is so linear. I don't think I can...

Hobbicolors new UW-8 ink reviewed for the ip5000 on kirkland paper

BTW, recently printed a lot of photos taken in Hawaii, using the UW8 ink, and they turned out great. Everything from rainforest green to tropical pink flowers, to skin tones, to sunsets, and even some night skies. the UW8 handled the wide range of color just great, both vividly and naturally...

Hobbicolors new UW-8 ink reviewed for the ip5000 on kirkland paper

My previous leak problem was a defective cart, and I suspect the UW8 cyan is ever so slightly different viscosity from OEM. Hobbicolors sent a replacement cart prefilled with UW8 ink. No problems with the replaced cart of the other carts, and have refilled a few times. Btw, to clarify, I don't...

HobbiColors for my iP8500 make prints look greenier

*IMPORTANT NEWS FOR HOBBICOLORS USERS* Use the Hobbicolors UW-8 ink for your BCI-6 printer, not the BCI-6 ink, it's MUCH, MUCH BETTER. Just special request a kit of UW8 ink with BCI-6 carts. I've been using UW8 for months in my 1pl BCI-6 printer and it's highly compatible, matched OEM color...

Hobbicolors new UW-8 ink reviewed for the ip5000 on kirkland paper

Cool to see others agree. The UW8 are giving me better color balance and more neutral grays also. I do notice they're slightly more clog prone though, i.e. I have to run a cleaning cycle or a test sheet if i havn't printed for a week. With the WC6 I almost never had to clean, so either it's the...

Hobbicolors new UW-8 ink reviewed for the ip5000 on kirkland paper

No idea who makes the ink but the UW8 works great in my ip5000. Assume it's better in recent models but don't know. They also have BCI-6 ink which is just ok imo. Hobbicolors seems like a good company so I reccomend them. Mention this forum as i did and they'll probaly be xtra nice. Their...

Hobbicolors new UW-8 ink reviewed for the ip5000 on kirkland paper

After testing the Hobbicolors UW8 ink in my ip5000 for over a month Im highly recommending them. And Im pretty picky. Pros: Color is very accurate, extremely close to OEM, and doesnt require profiling. Really. Saturation is good. Tinting can be accomplished with printer color controls if...

Hobbicolors new UW-8 ink reviewed for the ip5000 on kirkland paper

**Update** Hobbicolors is fast! The replacement UW8 cyan will be tested for a few days for clogging/flow problems as this is still a new set for me. So far so good and I highly recommend trying this ink. Will post on fading in couple weeks. So far the color accuracy is very good including...

Problem with first attempt at Hobbicolors - Canon Pixma 4000

To clarify the 5000 can also print 2pl and does for many paper/quality combinations. It's always a good idea to troubleshoot both high and low quality to isolate problems on the 5000, though I've yet to find a problem that was limited to 1pl printing. Adding new ink will usually fix sponge...

Problem with first attempt at Hobbicolors - Canon Pixma 4000

robertrd- I like the hobbicolors BCI6 ink overall for my ip5000, but I have to agree they need profiling and the gray is slightly green/yellow, with an overall slight yellow tint to prints. The cyan is a tad weak. The good news is profiling can correct it and 3rd party inks can be much worse...

Hobbicolors new UW-8 ink reviewed for the ip5000 on kirkland paper

Hi, it's been a while. I've been busy printing lots! :) Heres a preliminary review for the Hobbicolors UW-8 ink in the ip5000 printing on Costco Kirkland 8*11 and 4*6 glossy microporus paper. This review is for (4) color CMYK and does not include PM + PC. I should mention that technically the...

    New Costco 4*6

My local Costco just began stocking Kirkland Glossy Pro in 4*6 size. Nice! Think it was 2 packages of 150 each. Thing is though, I'm so used to cutting my own custom wide format sizes, I don't know if I'll go back to boring old 4*6 again. BTW, Can anyone recommend a good and cheap...

ICC Profile request! Hobbicolor inks, and either a 4clr or 6clr Cannon

Havn't tetsed HC fading yet. So far prints on the fridge look good, will reprint them in a month to compare. To do it more scientifically, I should probably print two copies now and then seal one for comparison.... Will try that with new ICC profile.

So, what Canon 3rd party ink is good? Totally confused...

I ordered from HobbiColor on Ebay, and I really like the cartriges with the screw closures. Color is not OEM though, at least for the 4 color formulation. If the inks were balanced for 6+ color that could be why. Identical print settings produced noticably different prints with the Hobbicolor...

ICC Profile request! Hobbicolor inks, and either a 4clr or 6clr Cannon

Poona888's 6 color profile helped, but could use a little tuning. It was a 6 color profile used in a 4 color printer afterall. With any luck I should test a 4 color profile for the HC ink, IP5000, and Kirkland paper soon.

foto - most of the color information is there even if the wrong WP was selected. Assuming the WP wasn't totally off, it's often possible to switch to 16bt mode, and adjust color. You're totally right though, better to fix it in camera. Sadly, I always forget to carry a white card, so I...

fotofreek - (not to brag but) I'm a professional artist, digital art director actually, and have been using Photoshop since v.1 and other paint programs since before the Macintosh or GUI were invented. :) So, point being, I don't go to print anything until I have the color where I want it...

ICC Profile request! Hobbicolor inks, and either a 4clr or 6clr Cannon

Just ordered Hobbicolor bulk inks. Will review them soon. Does anyone have a ICC profile for Hoobicolor? My perfect profile would be Hobbicolor, 4 clr BCI-6, and Kirklands paper. I'm using a ip5000, but any Canon 4 color should produce the same color profile, or close enough to tweak in print...
