HP photosmart and its pigment black not always offered in CISS kits?

Let me repeat that HP messed up on the product description and packaging with the pigment/dye combination. What customer understands that a bow-tie symbol may or may not be their ink? I am also correct that information is hard to come by, since some heavy posters here seem not to have it yet...

HP photosmart and its pigment black not always offered in CISS kits?

HP really messed up on the product description of these inks and why you need one or both. Beyond that, it is hard for the average user to get the info. Some refill kits are stocked with both, but you may need only the dye ink. Chuck the other one. Watch the symbols on the top of the...

    Storing unopened Canon printheads

The ip6600d which was bought new in 2006 was opened two weeks ago and ran perfectly. On the whole, I shall not purchase another Canon product, and I shall not likely purchase another print head either. I am pleased with the HP B209 I bought for $73, and which can be easily refilled with Ink...

New weapon of Canon: new carts to replace CLI-221/521 and PGI-220/520

Thanks for the bad news. My loyalty for Canon has evaporated. Except for color documents where absolutely required I think I shall be using a laser printer in the future, like the little OKIs, or Brothers. I still have an IP6600D NIB, so there is a little comfort.

Considering purchase of used i9900, comments??

I have run my i9900 since 2004. The current value of this unit is in the role of cheap proofing machine. I have run it with a CIS, as posted somewhere on this board. The head failed after 4 years. I shall keep it until it breaks. In your shoes I would not pay shipping for an item this heavy. I...

Possible flow problem with brand new Canon carts......

The white stripes in your print arise because either a) the print head is not printing when travelling either left or right across the paper, but does print in the opposite direction. In my expereience there is no easy cure for this, and for which there can be several causes. or b) ink is...

    Easy-WebPrint and IE8

I would not get too excited. You will find that most of the functionality is included with the print button on IE8. Make sure that you render the Command Bar visible. Personally I do not miss the Canon add-in, which was a good one for its time. Canon is pretty weird on the software side. I...

    newbie with i9950

My expereience is with the i9900--very similar. I shall start a new thread sometime soon with my experience with a new printhead, which was out of the ordinary. On the topic of the cheap A3 paper, do you mean for final prints or for proofing? For final prints it is a complex aesthetic choice...

Mega Problem Pixma ip 5000/ Easy Photo Print program..sudden onset !!!

In my opinion the Canon printer utilities are poorly supported, and are not up to date. Webprint will not work with IE7, and I don't know about VISTA support. Webprint is uniqely useful, though, and I do not know of another utility performing this job, so I keep IE6 just because of this. You can...

Canon i990 colour problem when set for higher grade paper

I had the similar problem on an i9900 and it was traced to using 3rd party cartridges lacking the 2-zone sponge. See if your sponges are Canon, 2-sponge, refilled. Somehow the extraction of ink is inadequate from certain single-color cartridges, and the vacuum exerts itself on others, usually...

Aficio G7500 gelsprinter (inkjet fast as a laser?)

This Ricoh product line is targeted at business user with a low duty cycle per month (10k) No waste in the ink. No wide format as yet. Will not print on glossy paper and does not support Mac OS. There is no pricing on the consumables. Though "dealers" are shown, I bet it is not a retail product...

[Research] Canon printers - refill/CIS capable

Without a clear warning on the retail package the practice is likely to be illegal in most states and Canadian provinces as well.

    Canon IP6700d and CIS system?

From time to time the patent office does allow a patent to slip through on a process which is obvious, but the onus is on the potential unlicenced user of the concept to invalidate the patent, which remains valid along with all the dangers of infringment. Sometimes great ideas are introduced...

    Canon IP6700d and CIS system?

My Chinese CIS has been running flawlessly on my i9900 for more than two months. I got it for $49 with 800 ml of ink. That's less than ink alone at Hobbicolors prices. The colors are wonderful and I have had two semi-clogs in the green color and no other problem. Ink refills are cheap. It just...

    I hate Canon

My candidate for execution is the one who decided not to allow more than 23" of paper length in the i9900. Presumably because Canon does not sell paper that long.

    Taking cover off Canon i9950???

In case you need this I just found it again in my notes. I think the i9900 and i9950 are similar as to the case: http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/inkjet/47679#1

Printing Black & White with IP4300

Printing in grayscale is a slippery and mystical process on the Canon dye-ink printers. Good grayscale is not necessarily the absence of color. There are lighting dynamics gamut and saturation issues. Internally Black printing on Canons is accomplished by the print driver laying down a layer of...

    Question about "waterproof" inks

IMO, it is a good policy to avoid lines of business with potential liability for safety and health. This project would be better handled with UV-cured inks on non-woven polyester backing (e.g Tyvek). This technology is part of the sign-printing and commercial poster business. Best to leave it there.

    Anyone!! Printers Cause Lung Cancer???

Well Stratman, we didn't even get into the ozone and aromatic hydrocarbon vapors emitted by these devilish machines. Not to mention that they spread dioxins from bleached paper through the office atmosphere as well. Oh well, there will be another time, even if it is from a new registrant.
