Third Party Epson R2000/P400 ink recommendations

I'm comparing apples to apples as I've printed the same test patterns on Ilford gold fibre silk paper with the Marrutt ink and the Precision Colour ink (gloss optimiser on in both cases), the Marrutt stuff clearly shows bronzing in dark colours while Precision Colours doesn't. I didn't see that...

Third Party Epson R2000/P400 ink recommendations

FYI I was using ink from Marrutt in my P400 and was never happy with it, it was very far from the OEM colour requiring custom printer profiles to get a good image, and even then I had really bad bronzing when using glossy papers, basically forcing me to only ever print matte paper. A while ago...

How close of a colour match should I expect 3rd party inks to be?

I have one small question now which is a bit off-topic for this thread. I just made a profile for Ilford gold fibre silk baryta paper and when I made my test prints for generating the profile I selected the "lustre" media type in the Epson driver. However now I realise that Ilford's profile for...

How close of a colour match should I expect 3rd party inks to be?

Hey all just an update, eventually gave up on the CISS and converted the system back into re-fillable cartridges by remove the ink lines and draining the air intakes down to the level they should normally be. This seems to have instantly fixed all of the issues I had been having, for the first...

How close of a colour match should I expect 3rd party inks to be?

Thanks, I'll have a look at that paper and I'll try to allow some air into the dampers to help damp out pressure pulses from nozzle firing and head velocity. I actually worked for a while at a company making production line machines for the assembly of inkjet print heads, although never design...

How close of a colour match should I expect 3rd party inks to be?

Well even before I can get my spectrophotometer I've more or less given up on this CISS system. I was about to print a calibration target for profiling today but did a nozzle check first. I saw that I had the same two nozzles missing as I had from the last time I printed (3 days ago) so decided...

How close of a colour match should I expect 3rd party inks to be?

Thanks for that thread, the seller for the colormunki I've ordered didn't mention anything about it playing up but if it does I'll definitely have a crack at repairing it, seems like a simple enough process.

How close of a colour match should I expect 3rd party inks to be?

Yeah I saw some relatively bad reviews for those, I've ordered a 2nd hand x-rite colormunki photo which seemed to have pretty good reviews for making printer calibrations. I know it's fairly old but I think for my purposes it should be fine.

How close of a colour match should I expect 3rd party inks to be?

Thanks for the replies, I was mostly just checking to make sure that I wasn't doing something wrong to cause this. Definitely not double-profiling, using the same settings and workflow as with previous prints and as I said Marrutt's profile was much closer to correct than the profile for OEM...

How close of a colour match should I expect 3rd party inks to be?

Hi, I've been using a new Epson SC-P400 for a few months and recently switched to a CISS system by Marrutt, I also switched to the chipless firmware which works exactly as advertised. The CISS system was fairly easy to install but has been an absolute bear to get working, I was plagued with air...
