    Update for all you hoarders. I purchased a printhead in original packaging for $60. Long story short, it worked a grand total of one time before my printer refused to work at all. I reinstalled the original head and the printer worked though with the same problem as before. :barnie Oh well...

    Have been checking prices ($50+) and honestly having a very hard time considering a print head that costs almost as much as the printer did. Then again, it's just as hard trying to find a good replacement printer that doesn't have a ton of bells & whistles that won't be used. So it's back to...

    Good point if indeed the problem is the print head. I will shop around and see what is out there. Sure would be nice to get a few more years out of this workhorse. Thanks for the tip.

Canon also 'relooked' their response and now say it sounds like an 'internal hardware malfunction'. :hit Replacement heads start at $40--I paid $90 for the printer so guess it's time to start searching for another plain, simple, reliable...
