    Epson R2880 - Problem - Blinking Lights - Won't work

This story has a very happy ending. No, I did not fix my printer. Since I bought the refurb 2880, I have not been in a hurry to deal with this. The 2880 refurbed works beautifully. I finally took the printhead out and replaced the electrical contact piece. Putting the ribbon cable back into it...

    Epson R2880 - Problem - Blinking Lights - Won't work

It's not that simple. The cable is razor thin and the place where you stick it in is also razor thin. There is very little that is "natural" to any of this. Isn't that why God invented Youtube? Some people make videos of opening up boxes.

    Epson R2880 - Problem - Blinking Lights - Won't work

I am replacing the printhead piece that the two ribbon cables plug into. Is there a video or good description that describes how the cables get reinserted so I don't screw it up? The technical manual is not perfectly clear for a novice like me.

    Epson R2880 - Problem - Blinking Lights - Won't work

This is a video that will help remove the printhead for a 2880. There is a tab in the back that is hard to find. It is for a 1400 but looks identical to a 2880. There is a second video that I saw, but can't now find, that describes how to clean the printhead once it is out of the machine. I am...

From more research, the Epson 1400 printhead is put together similar to the 2880.

    Epson R2880 - Problem - Blinking Lights - Won't work

I should have the recently purchased refurbished 2880 up and running this afternoon. Now that I have the printhead out of the original machine, is there a particular manner in which that should be cleaned? I should be getting a replacement for the destroyed second guide in a few days.

    Epson R2880 - Problem - Blinking Lights - Won't work

As I thought I might, I, basically, destroyed the board, in the process of trying to remove it. I don't think the video was very good at showing exactly where the tabs are that need to be pressed to release the board. If I get around to it, I would like to take the some photos of the board and...

    Epson R2880 - Problem - Blinking Lights - Won't work

Thanks for the recent video. I hope mine goes more smoothly than the video as it is a bit incomplete. It's nice to know that it can be done from the inside instead of the outside (maybe?). Also, for $20, I bought a replacement CISC board, assuming I might destroy it or maybe it is the problem.

    Epson R2880 - Problem - Blinking Lights - Won't work

Update. I am continuing to work on this but I just bought a refurbished model 2880 directly from Epson with a 1 year limited warranty for $349.00.

The manual shows what kind of tool to use. I have made it but it is hard to figure out exactly where to put it and what it is supposed to catch to release the guide. I'll keep trying. As you know, I have no other life but printerville!

I believe the part I am trying to remove is called the CSIC Assembly (Assy).

    Epson R2880 - Problem - Blinking Lights - Won't work

If I had a manual for "life" I could sell it and afford to buy a NEW printer, maybe a 3880. And a full frame camera, while I'm at it.

Thanks, this is exactly what I need. I saw this last week but forgot what was on it. I might get to it tonight but probably not until Friday (I am in New York, USA). Again, I do have a life outside of trying to repair this printer. Thanks again.

Yes, but the least step of disconnecting the cable is not clearly shown or not on the right model.

    Epson R2880 - Problem - Blinking Lights - Won't work

I am partly dissasembling the printhead to get at the cable connection. I am having a problem on the last few steps before I can actually get to the cable connection.

    Epson R2880 - Problem - Blinking Lights - Won't work

At InkjetMall, Dana finally responded and said the nozzle check looked like an electrical problem and I should take out the printhead and see if the print cable has gotten wet. I will get to this in a few days (as stated before, I do have a real life outside of dealing with this printer) and...

It may be possible that one of the carts is leaking. I have extra carts. I am going to replace the three black/grey carts and see what happens.

    Epson R2880 - Problem - Blinking Lights - Won't work

Websnail, I tried to make a print of the file you suggested but the printer started to make a print, and then it went back to blinking red lights. I pressed the off button, then turned it on and pulled the plug to be able to move the printhead. In the process, it ejected the paper which an...

Next chapter. I pulled the electrical cord out of the outlet. Put it back in, turned it on and no blinking lights. I ran a nozzle check and I get a black smear that shows a lot of ink on the paper. Any thoughts?
