How long ago did Canon start this 5B00 error? With what series and/or year? I never had an absorber issue with their older printers.

I would of replied yes, water is fine, preferably filtered water. Further assuming that is what you did? Did you consider a refill kit of resettable carts? of the 4 inkjet units I have had in 20+ years all have been printers only. I don't know how a multi-function machine would respond with no...

It appears that it was a songe problem as I swapped a newly filled virgin cart and it looks like it prints fine (so far).

As I stated, the test patterns test good. As to requirements; printer only, mostly text, color web pages & .pdf's, very few if any photos.

I have new ink in there now with the same problem. Magenta was fine before I emptied out that cart and flushed it several times by printing a page of magenta. Ink stained Fingers; What would you suggest that has easy to refill carts and a replaceable printhead that has no more than 5 colors, 4...

The ink I was using was somewhat older (not sure by how much) so I bought new ink from Precision Colors but magenta still has problems.

I seem to have a problem with magenta over the other two (cyan & yellow). Using test pages of the three colors and black magenta seems to glog the worst. This is with 2 different refillable carts and different printheads. The printer is a ip4300 with CLI & PGI carts. I've done multiple flushes...

I was under the impression after reading into that, was it worked both ways the PCB taking out the printhead or the printhead taking out the PCB. Both due to shorting out of one or the other. But, it continued into newer models, but I didn't see any point it was really resolved. One would think...
