I don't know if I should cry or puke.

Thanks for the ink info. I'll use up what I have, but at $12 for 67ml, I'll go genuine Canon as I run out of each color. Yes, a real shame they went the route that they did. All the better printers are montsters, to say nothing of costing more. After spending almost $300 on this printer a...

I don't know if I should cry or puke.

Maybe both. I've been using Canon printers for over twenty years, way back to the S series, BCI-6 carts. Possibly earlier. I've loved the iP3200?? and subsequent iP4300 and iP4500. I've had several of the former and of the latter. Still two old iP4500 for parts....or just can't bear to toss...

    Printer can't "see" a cartridge

Thanks for all the thoughts, guys. In the post I said I was getting some new cartridges, but the new ones were for my iP4500. OBS.... Old Brain Syndrome. I'm away from home for over a week, will continue when I get back.

    Taking a PRO-100 out of a 3 year hibernation

My Pro-100 has sat idle for three years with it unplugged. The other night I thought I'd fire it up. Dang, I got the alternating white power and orange paper feed lights. The Canon advice is to see your Canon Service Center........When I opened the lid, the print head did not move. A tug...

    Printer can't "see" a cartridge

I've had this issue with my iP4500 and now on my PRO-100. The cartridge clicks in, it lights up. You close the top lid and after it has done its machinations, fourteen flashes of the orange light. Open the lid, the cartridge is dark. Rinse, lather, repeat....and repeat....and, etc. It is a...

    Direct-to-paper protective coatings?

Your quest stirs vivid memories, even though I can no longer remember many details. Around a dozen years ago I did extensive amateur research on coatings and films. My goal was to prevent my Canon dye images from fading by UV or humidity. This effort was done on Florida's west coat, on the...

    Dye ink V’s Pigment ink...

Ah, the iP4500! After one died, I actually found a brand new one on eBay! Yeah, it cost several times of what they were selling for 15? years ago, but well worth it to me.

Some Printing facts about my Pro 9500 MK ll..

I recently fired up my Pro 100 after being unused (and unplugged) for at least three years. Just fine. OEM and aftermarket inks.

Part # and interchange for Pixma lower paper cassette?

Thanks, all. Good point about not being needed often. My story is that one got lost in moving, so I bought one. Then, of course, the lost one came to light! Grrrrr..........

Part # and interchange for Pixma lower paper cassette?

I now have two surplus lower paper cassettes for the iP4500. Does anyone know what Pixma printers they may be compatible with? The part number? I know they aren't worth much, just hate sending things to the landfill. I'd rather someone might get some use from them. Thanks!

    Which iP4500 should I keep?

Many thanks for your thoughts! The reason I know the print head is good is that it worked fine until the feed issue and subsequent alternating flashing lights. I have never, ever had on on-screen error code on any Canon printer I've ever used. Only assorted flashing light codes. I have no...

    Which iP4500 should I keep?

Other than a one, brief foray into Epson, I've been using Canon printers since the late 1990's. Some ancient ones, an S620? Anyway, moved on to the iPXXXX Pixma series, from way low model numbers (iP2000-ish?) to the iP4500. I also have a Canon PRO-100 when I want large or better photo prints...

Canon Pixma Pro 100 idle for 3 months

I think there is way too much worrying about this. I'm willing to learn something if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that with the print heads in park position, there won't be any evaporation of inks. The only issue I've had with leaving my Pro 100 unused for months is weird. It's been so...

    CLI-42 cleaning fluid

Windex isn't cheap???? Even without going the generic route, such as grocery store brand, a quart or so in a spray bottle of the real deal is less than $4 here. That should clean a few dozen print heads, no? If it was $10 equivalent in the UK, that's a few shillings per head, no? turbguy's...

What's with all the movement inside my Pro 100 before printing?

If I leave my Pro 100 off, as I often don't print on it for months, and plugged in, it restarts with an error code. I don't remember how many flashes, or what it signifies, or how I get it back on track. Now, I unplug it after I turn it off. Weird, eh?

Canon inkprinter without ink absorber (running full).

Not to reignite the Perpetual Epson-Canon Pissing Contest, but in the many years on this forum, I often see issues with Epson that I don't with Canon. Maybe I'm just biased and am blind to Canon issues? Over the 25? years I've been in computers and printers and later scanners, I now don't even...

Pixma Pro 1 - no power problem

I had a printer die in shipment that I sold. Since I didn't get near what I reasonably expected per sold on eBay, I didn't insure it. Especially since the cheapest transportation from SW Florida to northern California was already high. The buyer really worked with me to try to get it going...

    CD & DVD storage?

Yes, I did speak for myself. Of course. As I said, my perspective. I'm sure you know that re-writable discs sometimes suffer from failures like fungus in between the layers. I have thousands of photographs from the late 19th century to the present. www.vphotoestate.com I trust them to...

    CD & DVD storage?

What's a CD? Seriously, have you ever seen a media type come and go so fast? Including DVD's, for the most part, and especially writable for archiving. I have drawers of blank discs of both types, two sizes, and hundreds of sleeves. I now burn a disc maybe twice a year. My first DVD...
