Yep, Epson use some different media names in different regions.
My comment wasn't really a suggestion for the batch file just a heads up. When you profile a non-Epson paper the question is what is the best media and quality setting to use and I posted my conclusions.
If you inspect the Epson...
Thanks for sharing. I don't know if you followed older threads, but, I have posted that as far as I can see for the ET-8550 all glossy and lustre or semi-glossy media settings are the same except ultra glossy which has a best quality setting that I think needs its own profiles.
I don't think...
I just inspected the profiles. The only measurement set I have is from a 728 patch pain paper target so not worth printing anything with it. I attach ti3 files with and without Lab values so you can generate your own profiles to inspect/compare.
I actually just deleted the LAB columns in the...
The hole in the CR30 is 4.2mm so 8mm patches allow only about 2mm of misalignment. I think you did well to measure 10mm patches without a guide.
A couple more things I learnt. Elsewhere someone asked about the CR30 light source. It is 3 bright white LEDs focused to a small patch on the...
The scanner must have been seeing more of its own light. Maybe Kodachrome is more reflective or your set up was different.
You could try something like this, but results from a cheap scanner and lighting kludge will never be great.
Most people digitise slides and negatives with a camera.
The scanner has a monochrome sensor and switched R, G, and B LED illumination to detect colors. You are only going to get monochrome scans with a separate light source.
The thing isn't much money and he can't really offer a demo which people could use to produce all the profiles they need. I still wouldn't buy it without confirmation it produces useful profiles.
He ought to provide a few generated profiles for common printers and papers that people can...
That also means it only happens on matt papers. With VFA media type the speed is half that of standard matt and I assume it puts down more ink. I suggest similar to best quality mode only available for ultra glossy paper which is also half speed and ought to have specific color profiles.
One...
You are welcome. Having never used blender I couldn't offer advice on how to do it.
I did it in a CAD program. It could also be done in Orca slicer. Cut horizontally at 7mm height to separate the bottom part then scale the bottom part x and y to 49mm. That leaves a bit of a step internally...
Another old thread from DPreview also this and this brought back into the light by Keith Cooper with this youtube video.
The claim being that the (or some) ET-8550 sprays some extra ink in the margins of the print.
At the time I thought this was complete bollocks and still do (calling it...
Most people are supposed to make do with manufacturer or 3rd party created print profiles. Profiles not created with their specific printer, paper, or inks.
I would imagine there is much lower probability of variation between scanners.
I have no idea how much better a spectrophotometer...
The location of the breathable film in the tank and instructions to check if ink ever reached it and to replace the tank if it did is in the printer service manual. Something the AI you quoted made no mention of.
The AI drivel offered zero explanation of how the automatic level cut off works...
Just stick the bottle in a number of times when the tank is already full and it will will overfill and damage the printer - no force required and nothing to stop you doing it. Thinking you can keep the tanks topped to the brim by sticking in the bottle when it already looks full isn't a...
I now think the mechanism is simpler than before.
To the right is the outlet to the print head. In the middle is the filling tube. To the left is the breather tube and breathable film.
The bottles have some kind of seal to prevent ink release until they are pushed onto the filling tube...
More eloquent drivel made up from garbage it read on the internet. At least it gave one statement that I wouldn't argue with. The rest is just crap. AI is worse than useless for questions like this because it doesn't have any real intelligence and like most blowhards it pretends it knows...
Update to target and profile generating batch files and scripts.
The ti3 generation script didn't properly handle targets with more than 26 columns.
Also included is a csv file from ColorQC 2 for a 728 patch target. You can use this to go through the process of ti3 file and profile...
I wouldn't fret there are deals and discount coupons all the time on aliexpress. Search for "Colorimeter cr30" and you will find 6-7 suppliers with sensible prices. I see one $67 with a -$9 coupon available on a deal called black friday which lasts until 3rd Dec. There will be another deal...
I finished tweaking the g-code and got it down to about 17 minutes to read the 728 patches.
I was using the CR30 bluetooth interface which proved to be unreliable randomly missing between 2 and 5 patches of the 728. It didn't miss any with a USB cable connection. The PC bluetooth is provided...
