Your the second person to mention problems with the Yellow on Maxify. My query about Maxify printhead cleaning started because of a customer with the exact same problem.
So, it seems OEM yellow isn't all that great after all but then again I'm assuming that based on two reports and very little...
Thanks for your input on that.
As for inks, when you say with the compatible (and harvested large format inks) none were "satisfying" was that due to the colour rendition (presumably without profiling) or issues with clogging, etc..?
Here's another video that I did here in case it's of use too:
I'd originally thought it was WICReset or Service Tool only myself but for G1000 to G4000 it seems not. Worth noting that G5000 series and above are a different story though.
Just to add that there's a slew of additional photos of the process on this page:

These were donated by another user who followed @The Hat 's guide and wanted to provide some additional reference material.
Just a quick note on the whole "flushing" options... Worth noting that we specifically include a CLI-8Y empty cartridge as a surrogate with our refill bundles specifically because it can be flushed easily with deionised/distilled water or cleaning solution (and rinsed) without needing to worry...
Canon decided to take their warranty repair and a lot of their official parts sales back in house about a year ago much the to surprise of the vendors who used to do it.
I did talk to some contacts I've built up over the last decade or so and nobody seems to know why it has happened but now if...
With and CIS equipped printer the key issue with pigments (beyond making sure there's no dye ink remaining) is to keep the pigment from settling or creating a high concentration where the ink is drawn from. Ecotanks make this a little trickier to deal with because the reservoirs don't detach...
Quick follow up on this... I've been asked about Maxify printers a lot more recently and one key question is about cleaning the printheads.
I've yet to lay hands on one of these machines properly so I'm stating my lack of experience up front. From what I can see the printhead design is very...
Just a FYI... You can't get a software reset for the maintenance box but you can purchase a chip resetter for the unit.
Aliexpress have them if you do a search for "MC-G01 resetter". I've not opened one of those units up (mostly because I've not physically held one as yet) but looking at the...
I guess I'm something of a perfectionist to a degree. I don't get why a printer should need you to waste so much ink on power cleans, etc... just because someone didn't design the head-inlet to ink feed interface properly.
It's possible I suppose but you could only really rule that out by...
My only concern there is that you're getting air ingress into the printhead that, over time will ultimately kill the nozzles due to lack of ink/coolant. But as the expression goes "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
Keep me posted if you do decide to delve into the innards. I'll do the same if I...
Full disclosure I've only had 5 different MegaTank printers and 2 of those have never been even turned on so I don't have the same breadth of experience of you but I'd be inclined to agree that their system is flawed. The question is whether or not it can be fixed.
On this I'm going to...
Only other things I can suggest are:
Clean the top of the printhead, particularly around the ink receiver in the top, to remove any crud, hair, lint, etc...
Clean the carrier lid carefully as per the printhead and look for any signs of damage to the silicon rubber that should lock down over...
One nugget to add to this as I've spent a few months working on this... If one or more of the printhead labels are left in place they can create a tiny air gap that allows air in between the ink outlet in the lid and the printhead receiver. That showed up here with a G6050 that had a very slow...
I've never done it on a Pro-xxx printers, only G series units but no, I don't think there are any other values you'd want to play with without knowing what you're doing.
Just as an aside, if you get a Printer Potty and take a metric ton of photos and/or video of the disassembly, fitting and...
@pharmacist as you can imagine I agree wholeheartedly.
It's beyond frustrating though that Canon continue to create an artificial end of life scenario with their consumables policy on printheads. Granted the waste ink pad limits automatically reduce the potential market for replacements but...
Hey folks... it's been a hot minute (read: months!) since my last confession/post and I could use the collective brain trusts help in seeing if there's a way to reset the waste counter via the control panel on these Canon megatank printers.
Now, I should note that I have successfully identified...
