I'll actually be testing used printers. When I help buy for family
members, I compare what's new-ish with what's older,
because as you know, many older models are generally built
like tanks compare with today's models.
Often, I"m talking to ebay sellers or sellers of used gear
on other...
Hi everyone:
I have a couple of printers I'm checking out here. I always wondered, are there common
key combinations for printing self-test pages on MFCs/laser printers/laser faxes?
I just contacted Brother, who by the way have discontinued all phone support. A Brother support rep on Live Chat...
Well, as it turns out, the problem was just pieces of paper and masking
tape stuck in the ADF rollers. After I removed those, the unit mostly feeds
paper fine into the ADF. Another win for Canon reliability.
That's kind of what I was thinking, thanks.
Looking at the reviews on Amazon.com and Newegg.com, some of the
consumer-grade Brother models seem to have the same cheap gear
problem that plagued many earlier Brother laser printers.
I'm going to take another look at the Canon lineup.
She needs...
Hi everyone:
My cousin works in healthcare. She's not allowed to use any type of scanner that goes
to her computer due to healthcare regulations.
Her old film-based Sharp is dying and not worth fixing. Now, my cousin needs something
laser-based that uses plain paper. She needs something really...
Do you mean as a test, or as a workaround? I'm not looking
for a workaround. Either I repair that ADF or I never use it.
I don't want to fuss over it, just fix it, if possible.
I snagged a copy of the service manual, but it's been years
since I took apart printers/copiers and I'm not sure it's...
Hi everyone:
My elderly Mom has a Canon printer/scanner/copier. I believe it's a D560,
but if could be a D530. Sorry, my photo is a bit blurry.
Acc. to my sister, the ADF never worked properly on this printer from the day
we got it for Mom. No one ever told me (the tech. guy in the family)...
Hi everyone:
I'm working with a charity to whom I've offered a Laserjet 2100TN. They asked for USB, in spite of the lovely ethernet interface functionality.
Since the LJ2100 series doesn't have a USB interface, I wondered if could take some interface card from a 2200 series and install it in...
Hi PeterBJ:
Thanks, I already have the manual in PDF format. (Let me know if you want it, it's probably easier to read than JPEGs).
Of course, the copier will not throw the paper jam error right now, so I have to wait until it does again. In the mean time, can anyone tell me if what I replaced...
GRRRR. Okay, the first problem is back again. In spite of my having replaced the whole separation pad assembly and the pickup roller, the copier is still showing the paper jam error. To make sure I'm not delirious, the roller I replaced was the one just above the paper tray, near the front of...
Hi:
I recently had paper jam errors with my Imageclass D1350. I replaced the cassette pickup roller and separation pad, and that fixed the jam problem nicely.
However, since I did that, the copier is now making a sort of pulsed grinding noise "Hem Hem HEm" when it starts up and whenever...

HP Brings Back Obnoxious DRM That Cripples Competing Printer Cartridges
Can be avoided, but you must use firmware on HP's website.
I called HP and told them that this printer had barely printed a few hundred pages before the print head died. I told them about the pending class action from Morgan and Morgan law firm (US). I reminded them about the existing Class Action settlement relating to defective WiFi radios in this and...
stratman:
Are you suggesting I run another purge, or that I just print normal content to see what happens? I thought I'd print a few photos. I'm willing to spend more on ink now that I know I will at least temporarily get some decent prints.
It turns out that the guy I know who is a retired...
