I just got hold of a few "used" PG-40 (black) and CL-41 (color) carts for use with my Canon IP1200 from a federal office with clerks who don't know any better , and one or two of the carts are useable. This means I can have one in the printer and one or more carts "in reserve." In line...
Thanks for the help. Seems like the old contacts on the cart have been "compromised," although I don't know how this happened. Got hold of some "used" carts, and the printer recognized them properly --- including the fact that they were "used!" Lol... so long as the printer knows the cart is...
Okay, I'll post what I can find here, to make this thread my "one-stop shop" for cleaning printheads. Please do not post comments here if you aren't suggesting a cleaning method, let's try to keep this one clean and to the point.
I do regular and deep cleaning but still my printhead died on...
I'm using a Canon Pixma IP1600 with a CL-41 color cart. This is my third cart, and the color started to streak and fade. I tried cleaning it by cleaning out the ink and replacing it with alcohol and letting it sit in the printer. I did a couple of "deep cleans" to get the ink into the...
Nice photos! Wish I had the cash to invest in a quality printer like this and a CIS system. Been wanting to ask: how does the CIS system "refill" your ink carts?
I know we can get this info on a search, but in the interest of putting all things on one thread, can I request a sticky thread that would list ways to unclog printheads?
Ideally, the info would contain:
1. Printer type
2. Cartridge type and Ink type (pigment/dye)
3. Problems encountered
4...
To give you an idea, I go through two reams of paper (8.5x11 inches) each month and I print on both sides of the paper, so that's about 2000 pages. There's a lot of color in those pages, some are even full-color illustrations. Still haven't worn out my el-cheapo Canon iP1200. I'm on my second...
I just had my first (and only) CL-41 colored cart die on me. Well, not actually dead, but the yellow is starting to show streaks. This is funny, since when refilling, I notice the magenta and cyan needing more ink than the yellow chamber, but yellow is the first one starting to go. I've had...
Well, that last line (6BK) seems to be your problem... You'll notice on your pics the lines only appear in the black areas, the sky, the roof, and the blue parts of the car aren't affected. Possibly a clot? Do some deep cleans or perhaps flush the printhead with ammonia or some other solution...
I'm printing an ebook, and for some reasons, the author decided to go with a "white text on black background" format for some tables included in the book. Printing the ebook on NORMAL printer settings gives me a very wet page, one that curls due to the insane amount of ink (I print on both...
You know you're a printer addict when...
- the term "ambiance" includes sounds of your printer(s) working
- you go through reams of paper (or photo paper) like it's going out of style
- you can identify printer models and you can troubleshoot by the sound of the printer alone
- you windowshop...
I am not overfilling the carts, but I know these sponges are wet... and I know wet stuff on printheads suck out ink, or let ink sit which would become a clot later on.
Does the sponges make contact with the printhead when the printer is off or turned on but on standby? How does the printer...
@ mikling:
I am talking about cross contamination, and under what circumstances MIGHT they happen. I have not had one occur to me yet, but it's nice to know how it can happen so as to know how to AVOID it. I personally don't overfill, I put the cart on a stack of papers, it inclines due to the...
iP1600 is just like iP1200, they use the same carts, 40 and 41 IIRC.
jdiem, I don't know if there is a chip resetter currently available. You can refill those carts, but when the printer software "thinks" the ink is out, you lose the ink monitor system, BUT you can continue refilling and...
I notice when taking out my Canon 41 cart that the ink nozzle area is wet with ink, and is usually in the form of the sponge used when the cart is parked. Should I worry about this? Maybe I should wipe the sponge too? Or is this "normal"?
