My MG5350 would only feed from the cassette even when rear feed was selected. The suggestion on the Canon forum was to go to the printer preference pane and set rear tray to default. I did that, and now I can print from the rear tray but when I select cassette in the printer dialogue box, it...
I've now written in large writing the following three things on my wall:
1. Switch off, wait ten seconds, switch on.
2. Check the batteries
3. Read the manual
That should solve 99 percent of problems.
Happy Christmas!
As usual, I was confused by information on the web. There are two ways:
- in the print dialog box, you set the lower box from the drop-down menu to 'Duplex printing and margin, then tick the 'duplex printing' box.
- Or, on the printer screen, you navigate using the scroll wheel via Copy/Print...
I have just discovered, by accident, that this printer has a facility for duplex printing. However, I cannot work out why it did it because there is no tick box for double sided in the print dialog box.
So my two questions are:
- Why did it suddenly print automatic double-sided without...
Thanks for reminding me. I suspect, sir, that you speak from (bitter!) experience. And, to be sure to indicate which cables go where and which way round they go (you can see I was an electrical engineer in my past life!).
The chain oil I use is a dry oil, which means that it does not contain silicone. As I said, the technical information does say that it can be used on PVC, which is a soft plastic. But thank you for your warning! WD40 produce a PTFE dry spray - it's only £7 so I might purchase that and avoid the...
A bit more…
I use a dry spray for my bike chain from Lidl and made by Baufix. On their website, although I cannot find the components, under their technical details it does say that it is suitable for metal and PVC. PVC is a particularly soft plastic, so I'm thinking it's probably OK to use on...
Thanks for this, PeterBJ. I can obtain the Molycote EM30L from Amazon, and I have downloaded the MG5250 service manual from your link. You're a mine of information, sir! The grease is £20 but I can use it for other things - the one on Amazon is in fact advertised for sewing machines. The manual...
Point taken! I HATE squeaks. I'm a regular cyclist and I spend hours tracking down recalcitrant squeaks, mutters and groans on my bike (it's probably me that groans). You are quite right - plastic is funny old stuff but I do have a solution (ha!) for it in me toolbox. I'll let you know how I get...
The squeaking only occurs during the cleaning cycle and the operation of the printer is not affected. Is there somewhere I can lubricate to stop the squeak?
You've cheered me up no end, Artur5! I find both Canon's online manuals and their set-up procedures on the printer screen complicated, tiresome and extremely poorly written. Seeking the same solution and reading through the modem manual proved a lot easier, as, I must say, did the posts on this...
As always, thanks to all of you for your help and suggestions. One suggestion from the internet was to reset the printers. I did this and, as you can see from the dialogue box, I came up with three! It appears that one is for the USB connection, one is shared with my wife's computer and one is...
Since Vodafone kindly supplied me with a new modem, I am now able to connect to my printer wirelessly. I set this up following the instructions on the printer screen and using the password provided for me by Vodafone. However, as The Hat is well aware!, it's dropped the wi fi connection and I've...
Ah - I didn't know that. Now you've put me off buying another Canon printer! However, since my MG5350 seems to want to go on forever, and should I ever have a problem I can come back here, I doubt I'll need another printer. I've probably only got another 15 years on the planet. I'm sure my MG...
Forgive me but I don't buy that. Canon is one of the most sophisticated companies in the business. If they wanted to, it could be done. But it suits them not to.
Nevertheless, if anyones asks me, I will swear by a Canon printer. My MG5350 is still plodding along nicely and, I am sure, will...
Well - perish the thought that I should be critical of Canon (!) but I do find their instruction difficult sometimes. You are correct in that I did use a USB connection to make My Image Garden work but, for goodness sake - it's a Canon Printer with bluetooth connectivity. So why doesn't My Image...
I solved the problem. To be fair, Canon did highlight this, but you sort of get used to your own system. We have two computers and two printers on a LAN via a router. My printer is connected via the router to the printer but my wife's computer has a direct connection to the printer. So my...
I always use new original Canon carts. One is on slow flash. Would this affect it? They are so expensive that I usually use them until the machine won't go anymore!
