I just ran more tests, and based on the results and the fact that I am going to assume that you print with the COLOR ADJUSTMENT set to AUTO, this is what I recommend.
The three best in AUTO were CANON, Costco IMS and a 50/50 mix of Costco IMS with MIS.
Compared to the results you are getting...
To get the best results you are better off refilling.
if you let me know what kind of photos you are printing, such as, potraits, or specialties, i can tell you which i prefer.
Robert
Prior to running the test I had tested a print with ColorBat ink which clogged my printhead.
I cleaned the printhead and I ran the test again. These are the results when printing with the ip5000.
As far as the closest to Canon original ink, the Costco IMS is the closest, both print with a...
So far Formulabs/Sensient BCI-6 is the best i have tried for the ip5000, and that is what i am using currently.
I understans that Alotofthings carries this ink. Make sure it is the BCI-6 kind, not BCI-8 or any other.
Robert
Just tested the Costco IMS ink on my ip500, and it prints with a green-bluish tint, so that is out.
Even the mixiture if Costco IMS and MIS is not so good.
Sorry.
Robert
I also own an ip5000, and I think it is the best printer produced by canon. It uses 1/3 the ink and produces the most accurate color prints using canon ink, the color profile is the best.
There are many factors I selecting an ink brand. None of the inks out there are 100% comparable with the...
It's bulk ink, not carts.

To Rob & Neil:
I just tested the FOMULABS BCI-6 ink on my i960.
The results are out of this world. It prints better than CANON ink and MIS.
My monitor is calibrated and the colors matched perfect.
I used a PHOTOSHOP image with the profile set to RGB1998.
I set the printer to PHOTO PAPER...

Neil:
You mentioned before that viscosity is not the problem and that the problem is with the cart. To some extent you are right. The old spongeless carts from ColorBat were a disaster, they ran all over the printer.
However, I have used about six or seven different types of carts, including...
I have a feeling that more people are having problems with the MIS & ColorBat Cyan than we may know.
When printing portraits and panorama pictures, the problem is not always visible. The color may not be correct, but one may not notice.
I started noting the problem when the more I printed, the...
Adding distilled water to the ink is not necessarily a bad thing, after all, that is what in is mostly made up of.
If the ink is dark enough, it should not make much of a difference. However, I would probably dilute all colors, to keep it consistent.
Also I definitely would use distilled...
To R. Smith:
I solved the problem by mixing 50/50 with IMS-Costco ink. It will probably take a little color correcting, but it works for me.
I find the Costco ink to be good, the only problem is that their photo-magenta and photo-cyan are to rich (to dark), therefore use MIS photo-cyan...
To wrbjr:
The problem I am having is not with the MIS Cyan ink been to thin, but it is just to thick and it does not flow fast enough, the rest of the colors work fine.
As to some of the leaks that other have experienced, I also had some cartridges leaking. One was the old spongeless...
Neil:
I have used MIS Ink for about 8 years, and I have from time to time had some clogging problems. In testing the inks I found out that it was the ink.
As for the ink problem with the canon 960, I have used many kinds of cartridges to test the clogging, including taking a brad new canon...
From my personal experience, I find that there is very little difference in the quality of different brand of inks, with the exception of how long they will resist fading. Fading is not very important to me, as long as I have the original file I can always reprint it. The problem with fading, I...
I buy my rubber plugs from Sellink, they cost 15-Cents each, and I find them to be great.

Hello Blaster:
I have giving up on their inks. For now I am getting around it by mixing their ink, which I have plenty of, with the Costco IMS brand, this solves the viscosity problem. It is not that difficult to use any other brand of ink, if you have calibrating programs.
I think it is very...
