This behavior is normal for printers using CLI 8 and PGI 5 cartridges. It allows you to disable ink level monitoring(has to be done for each cartridge as printer determines it's empty) so you can use refilled cartridges. The chips cannot be reset unless you own a $700+ resetter.
I got the 50% coupon off a computer bulletin board I frequent. They currently don't have any coupons posted for Swift. I also use A Lot of Things and am very satisfied with their service. The refill ink I'm currently using(I'm refilling my CLI8 and PGI5 cartridges so I don't have to move the...
I've used the G&C cartridges in my Pixma MP600 with very good results. I use the CLI8-PGI5 cartridges. I got them from Swift Ink with a 50% off coupon. I have had excellent customer service with them. They are very responsive to emails and I believe the owner follows these forums.
I had an HP PSC2110 which used the 56-57-58 cartridges. The only real difference I saw using the 58 cartridge was a slight improvement in skin tones. They tended to be a little less red and more natural. I think the main reason for the date on these cartridges was for warrenty purposes on the...
MIS ( www.inksupply.com ) has a program on their site called MIS Autoprint that will automatically print an image of your choice at a time set by you as often as once a day to once every two weeks.
I was under the impression that the European Union had laws specifically forbidding printer manufacturers from doing anything that would eliminate the ability to refill or use refilled cartridges. If what you are saying about the 4300 is true it would seem to be in violation of the law in Europe.
I've read that if a reset cartridge is reinstalled on the same printer it will act like a non reset chip-won't show ink level. I've been led to believe that Atlantic Inkjet keeps track of where cartridges come from so you don't get the same ones back. I also understand Swift Ink will soon be...
I finally got the warnings and had to press stop/reset to disable monitoring on the PGI 5 cartridge so apparently everything is working as it's supposed to. This is on a Pixma MP600 that is about 2 months old. The X has disappeared from above the cartridge.
Thanks for the replies.

Tin Ho - The cartridge is being recognized and the light is flashing about once a second. It still prints so the chip is functioning. I had figured the light on that cartridge would go out when ink level monitoring is disabled. Thanks for the reply.
The cartridges have all been refilled but the PGI 5 is the only one currently showing empty. A couple of the otheres have the " ! " above them and yes the printer still prints. If Canon changes the firmware to disable the ability to turn off the ink level monitoring and kills the printer when...
The instructions say to press the stop/reset button for 5 seconds when an X is displayed above a cartridge. My PGI5 has been refilled and is indicating empty. I pressed the stop/reset button but get no indication ink level monitoring has been disabled. I still get a X displayed on the monitor...
Has anybody tried the German method on the G&C replacement cartridges? I understand the usual method of drilling into the tank won't work because of the vent design but wondered about attacking it through the sponge.
That air bleed hole doesn't go straight into the resevoir. It is used to equalize pressure in the two chambers and works its way across the top of the cartridge. It's not a straight path. There are diagrams of a cutaway canon cart on one of these printing websites.
I have a Pixma MP600 with which I'm quite satisfied. Photo quality is superior to the HP PSC2110 it replaced. It uses 4 dye colors(dye black) plus a pigment black for text. The chipped carts are a nuscience(sic) but I'm refilling the oem carts with good results. There are refilled, reset oem...
My guess is that you would install it in the printer and run deep cleaning cycles then reinstall the original cartridge and see if it's fixed. Do this till it's fixed or the cleaning cart is empty.
Atlantic Inkjet has been selling oem refilled carts with reset chips for a few months. They are charging 7.49 for the CLI-8 carts and 7.99 for the PGI-5 cart.
Before I recently switched to a Pixma MP-600 I had an HP that used 56 Black, 57 color and 58 photo carts. The 58 replaced the black cart and had photo magenta, photo cyan, and dye based black. The only difference I noticed between 4 and 6 color printing was slightly better skin tones, they...
I think the ebay unit includes an awful lot of ink for the price and I can't believe it's of great quality. MIS products are not inexpensive but they do represent decent value for money spent and they will support their customers.
