There is no resetter available yet for the new CLI-226 series cartridges.
The same refill procedures could work, but you cannot see the level of ink in the reservoir because of the opaque cartridges. A scale may be useful when filling these cartridges to check the levels.
As far as quality...
Yes, it works with a flatbed scanner. I have had pretty good luck with it on 4-5 printers. The profiles for this printer also look pretty good to me. The problem that I think that most people run into is getting a good scan. You really need a high quality scanner and scan software (I use...
Quick update:
After playing with the driver a bunch (different paper, ink density settings) and generating various profiles I think that I've reached the max. that this printer can do with glossy photo paper.
I've found that it is not possible to get as deep of colors (especially black) on...
Just search this forum.
A few quality ink suppliers are:
Inksupply.com
Hobbicolors on eBay
Precisioncolors.com
Octoinkjet in the UK
OCP ink from rjettek
Probably a few others that I forgot, but those are all trusted sellers.
Websnail... Websnail? (Ferris Buehlers Day Off Voice) ;-)
We all know that you have a CLI-226 printer and can tell us if the cartridges are physically the same.
The MG line use the newer CLI-226 cartridges which are not as easy to refill because the cartridges are completely opaque and there is no way to reset the chip.
In short, if you want to refill buy a printer that doesn't use the CLI-226 cartridges.
So I got a new toy! (Wife was ALMOST going to kill me! I told her I'd sell one of my NIB MP560s :P )
I was browsing my local classifieds (I know, bad thing to do!!!) and I found a very nicely cared for Epson Stylus Photo 2200 for $60. It included refillable cartridges and an almost full...
Hobbicolors is still around.
Any of the CLI-8, BCI-6, CLI-221 series machines are still fairly easy to refill. You just need a chip resetter for the CLI-8 & CLI-221 series printers.
I don't know of any printers that have both an ADF and the ability to scan the film slides as well.
The MX870...
If you could also measure an empty cartridge that would be helpful.
I'm not sure of the exact weight of the inks we use but water weighs about 1 gram per ml, so you should be able to know how much ink to inject by the weight of the cartridge.
If you want good photo quality and CISS then Epson is really your only choice.
The Artisan series should work fine for you. Just choose the model that meets your needs and budget.
My MX860/IP4700 did experience a bluish/greenish color cast with the hobbicolors inks. I've since created a profile that makes good output.
The 4 color CLI-8 printers seems to do much better than the CLI-221 printers do with Hobbicolors inks without a custom profile.
You'll be fine. I've had them out of my pro9000 for a day for a purge and dry with no ill effects I didn't even have to run a head clean.
When you close the lid it will park the print head. One day should pose no problem.
Ink from supersmartelectronics didn't give me the bad head clogs, but the colors for photo printing are not too faithful.
Like I said... I have had NO problems with the chips on either set of cartridges over the past two years.
If I were you I would buy the cheapest set of cartridges...
Yes, I meant them. And like I said I have put about 20,000 pages through each of these two HP C7280s over the past two years and have had zero problems with the cartridges. The cheap ink has however clogged them a few times. Don't worry about the cartridges.
I would maybe try and contact...
They reset themselves sometimes when removed, sometimes when the printer is shut off... I haven't quite figured out the pattern yet but they do work and work consistently. You can not depend on them to give you an accurate reading of the ink levels inside of the cartridges. These refillable...
I have two similar sets of HP 02 refillable cartridges. They are both transparent and have auto reset chips. One I got from an unknown seller on eBay, another from Smart Electronics. They both function well. The chips reset themselves on empty or sometimes when the printer is turned off...
