Be very careful with opening a printer.
The death of my BJC-4000 long ago was the cause of that.
I have been using that printer for almost 5 years and suddenly it stopped working. I thought there might be some paper jam or some mis-aligned gears as the printer emits a grinding sound, indicating...
Using a dye ink on a cartridge that is supposed to contain pigment ink is definitely not recommended. The pigment based ink has it's own purpose, as well as the dye based ink. You will definitely have a less than satisfactory output of you don't follow that simple rule.
Some might be brave...
Got that right Rob!
The good thing about this forum is that all members have the same interest and are very excited to share their experiences with it.
I also used this forum to decide what printer to buy, and I am very very satisfied with my printer now.
The way I understand Music Image's statement:
"as I understood it, the salesperson told me that the cyan, magenta, yellow, and black (BCI-6bk) carts always use a very tiny amount, along side the BCI-3ebk, if youre printing text with the normal paper."
She(?) is actually talking about how small...
Well, that would be a tough one. Since the interior of the spongeless cartridge available in the market is totally different from the interior of a regular cartridge. Removing the sponge just by itself will not work. The 'filter' that you've described will not be able to contain the weight of...
You're talking about a 'spongeless cartridge', which is already available in some 3rd party ink cartridge manufacturers.
We actually have a lengthy discussion of that subject.

I have little success spraying on photo paper, but that was last time i was using epson c43ux. The result was awful though. with my new canon, i still haven't tried it. I'll try it later after work and let you know.
Yeah, yesterday I made my first refill for my yellow cart for my new Canon IP4000. And I checked the other carts, sure enough, the BCI-6Bk still has a good amount of ink compared to cyan, magenta and yellow. Since I seldom print text, my BCI-3e Black is still almost full.
The BCI-6K will run out if you print mostly photos and graphics on high quality.
Printing mostly text, the IP4000 will use the BCI-3e Black.
But from my experience, with that kind of printer, it would be very hard not to print photos. Your nephew would probably be printing a lot of photos...
Been doing that with sticker paper since I first had my first bubble jet way back in 1996. Using it on photo paper is different though. I had little success on it. But maybe I sprayed too much coat on the first spray, that must be the reason. Maybe I'll try again.
Oh, by the way, I use a spray...
This might sound weird but what the heck...
It could be that your monitor is not adjusted right? what might be brown appears red on your monitor, so that
when you think you are using red, you are actually using brown, therefore it's printing brown.
Try downloading a picture of a red apple. Or a...
Rob, the arcsoft's photo studio that comes bundled with my canon powershot s1 is is a good software. you have the option to resize your originals to any percent you want, and save it on jpeg on any quality you want.
Also, ACDSEE is a good software too. Not only does it include basic photo...
Christine, I know you have limited space, but based on my experience, I would rather get a separate scanner and printer.
Why? Repairs. Office equipments will fail in time. If you have a combo unit, it would mean that if your scanner fails and you have to have it serviced for repairs, you will...
Musicmage, get a canon. the ones with individual inks. not only are they economical, they are even more practical than the 'chipped' individual inks offered by other brands.
Sorry I've been away guys, i'm still here in the Philippines on my vacation, and i only go online to check e-mails.
i understand, but there is a nice way to tell people, than just being rude, right? you can get the same message across if you say it in a nice way. right?
try manually cleaning your printheads by using a can of compressed air. that has been suggested many times here in this forum and with good results.
if that doesn't solve it, try replacing the cartridges with new ones, maybe you just got a faulty batch.
if it is still not printing, you may need...
a lot of us here like the clips included when you buy the 'arrow' brand of replacement cartridges from alotofthings.com. not only do their carts come with cool clips, their carts are designed to be refilled too.
you can also use the original clips from your canon carts, just hold them firm with...
