The original file is a TIFF in Adobe RGB color space and is 12.14MB. The copy you see here has been converted to a JPEG in what's close to sRGB color space. This forum allows a file no larger than 100KB and makes that reduction itself if necessary. Along with the problems of...
1. You must decide if you want the best results possible or not.
2. If you do, and decide to use third party ink and OEM cartridges, you must discard the ink in the OEM cartridge. If you do otherwise, your results will be different each time you replace an individual OEM cart ink with the...
After gaining some valuable basic information from this forum about refilling Canon CLI-8 cartridges I have spent some weeks, a lot of paper, and ink making tests to determine how I will proceed in this refilling world. My refilling experience comes from the BCI-6 days, top filling with third...
This really is a tough forum. I try to share some information and just get negative replies. I've learned my lesson. I'll keep my info to myself.
Good bye,
Wil
Get a RotoTrim trimmer and cut your own. This trimmer will last you a lifetime with no problems. Mine is the 24 inch model and is about 10 years old. I make whatever size desired. If I want 4 x 6, that is what I cut.
I don't print borderless and don't recommend it.
1. This causes...
Getting three 4 x 6 prints from one 8.5 x 11 sheet requires that you print two portrait and one landscape on a single sheet of paper.
This is an almost automatic operation with Qimage and a less convenient thing with Lightroom.
Printing the three 4 x 6 prints on one 8.5 x 11 is the way to...
Here are two screen shots of my updated Excel Spread Sheet that shows the total (almost) cost of printing photographs. As in the past the ink usage for the Canon Pro9000 II comes from the research done and published by Red River they do good work.
This update includes HobbiColors and Mis ink...
Im sorry if sharing my work and conclusions offended you. I only talk about what I have actually tested. The only ink I have to test is OCP. If sharing this work with the forum is a problem, Ill make this my last posting.
Good Luck,
Wil
Profiling OCP Ink
After discovering that the OCP/Red River combo went through a curing process of about three days, I recommended that the profiling test print cure for three days before making the profile. Further considerations have made me change that recommendation. In my effort to get to...
I'd be happy to share these prints with anyone, but there are a few complications.
I use lightroom, and the real scenes (2) are .dng RAW files. They are 24.88 and 20.70 MB file sizes. While in Lightroom, they are in an extended ProPhoto RGB color space and are close to 16 bit deep files...
Canon 9000Pro II. OCP Ink, Kirkland Signature Glossy Paper
The profile making print was made three days ago. After observing the curing process with OCP ink, I decided to wait three days to make the actual profile.
After completing the profile, I made a test print of the same scene I have...
As it turns out, I have just bought a box of Kirkland paper and printed the profile test prints. I will wait three days to make the profile and do the same real scene test print at that time.
I'll report the results as they become available.
As for as price advantage for the Kirkland paper is...
I have been making printer/paper/ink profiles for a few years with few surprises, but I got a very large surprise with OCP ink and Red River Arctic Satin paper.
As most know, one makes a test print for the profiling hardware to read. Because an ink jet print seems to cure for a while after...
As requested, the spread sheet has been modified to include using CostCo Signature paper and OCP ink.
It is interesting to me that the cost savings with the CostCo paper reduces as the print size gets larger. Unless the CostCo paper does as good as the Red River, I'll stay with the Red River...
Strange you should ask about the Kirkland paper. I've just done the rough work in the spread sheet to include that info. When it looks presentable I'll post ot.
Thanks,
Wil
Below is a part of an Excel Spread Sheet showing the total printing cost from three sources. All the comparisons used the current price of Red River Arctic Pro Satin.
1. The B & H price of Canon OEM ink was used because it is the best price I can find. The OCP price of 16 once bottles was...
Introduction
Let me begin by thanking all of you on this forum for all your information, advice and help. This is truly a great resource for all refilling problems. I have had a lot of experience with refilling Canon BCI-6 carts for a Canon i9900, but none with CLI-8 carts with chips. My...
The purging methods referred to in the responses seem to indicate that a new hole, or some kind, has been drilled into the top of the Canon OEM cart.
The "German" method of refilling the carts does not require drilling a hole in the top of the cart. My real question is, is it necessary to make...
