Hi Stratman
Your guidance is valued and appreciated. Thank you. I know Precision Colors is well reputed, and I'm beginning to get a favourable impression of Octoink. I've also heard that InkExpress spoken well of elsewhere. Do you know anything about of them? I'm tending to lean towards...
I have several mid-range Canon printers, and am trying to locate a reputable supplier of quality bulk inks. I am looking for inks as closely matched as possible to Canon OEM, as I want to avoid as far as possible going down the route of profiling. I live in the UK, but would consider all...
I use Image Specialists ink. You will notice MIS ink is mentioned regularly on this forum. MIS are suppliers of IS ink, which has been specially formulated to closely match the specifications of OEM ink.
The European distributer of IS ink is Gemini Colours of Holland. Unfortunately, they...
Since you are pleased with the results of the Canon Cyan together with your "rainbow" cartridges, it would seem appropriate to obtain a non-OEM cartridge which closely matches Canon cyan ink. Other members have reported excellent results with both G&G cartridges and hobbycolors. There are...
Fotofreek,
I was interested to learn of your experience of using IS ink. I'm afraid the scans of the printed test image are not especially representative of the true colors of the prints. My scanner leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to color accuracy! However it did manage to...
For those who are interested, here's a brief update on the Image Specialists ink I am currently testing.
I have been communicating with Robert Grafton of Gemini Colours who supplied me with IS sample inks that were producing the very noticeable green colorcast. He has been most attentive in...
Inky,
It's good to know that you've derived very pleasing results from the Hobbicolor UW8 inks.
Just out of interest, do you happen to know who manufactures the Hobbicolor ink?
Hi Mikling,
Thank you for your help and guidance.
I really don't have any reservations about the quality, accuracy and performance of IS manufactured ink. Like you, I believe the cause of my colorcast problem lies elsewhere. Over the last few weeks I have spent a great deal of time...
I have just received a set of sample Image Specialists inks from Gemini Colours in prefilled carts. This is the same bulk ink MIS supply.
Eager to test the performance of these inks, I prepared my printer by ensuring that it was thoroughly cleaned and flushed of the ink I had been using...
Thank you so much for all your help and guidance, Grandad35. I am now sure I am on the correct road to attaining a true and factual understanding of image management and the many surrounding issues. Your links and suggestions are excellent, and I'm really getting a lot out of the learning...
Grandad35,
Ah yes, you have explained things in a way that makes perfect sense and dispells ambiguity. I appreciate the importance of accurate monitor calliabration when using the monitor as a means to color modify digital images prior to printing, emailing etc. But with reference to the...
Thank you for your very helpful and informative input Grandad35.
Regarding monitor calibration, I used software called Monitor Calibration Wizard 1.0 which uses a range of colour charts - in effect, a color box within a larger color box. The shade of the smaller box is adjusted to match the...
Thanks for your reply Pebe.
I am familiar with BS print, although I have not ordered from them before. It's good to have your personal recommendation. What put me off ordering from BS print is that they claim that their ink is optimised for all Canon printers, which seems to suggest that...
There seem to be some excellent sources in America for high quality bulk inks which are practically as good as the original OEM cartridge ink. In particular MIS inks seem to be highly endorsed by professional imagers. Unfortunately, I have found it very difficult to locate a similar source in...
My understanding is that the BCI6 uses a dye ink - the BCI3eBK uses the pigment ink (generally used for black text). The pigment ink is better for archival purposes.
